When will Squid Game Season 2 hit Netflix?

There is no specific release date for Squid Game Season 2 announced as of yet, and since it has not begun filming, it’s too early to predict. But one thing is for sure it’s not coming to Netflix in September.

Owing to its demand and pressure for another season, Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator of Squid Game, said that he was left with “no option” but to continue with the sequel. He further added, “Yes, there will be a second season; I can confirm that. I’m thinking about that at the moment.” Based on this, we can infer that things are now in the planning stage as of yet.

Resultantly, it’s going to take at least a year before we get to feel the thrill again.

Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed quite recently that Lee Jung-Jae would be reprising his role as Seung Gi-hun, the winner of the first games. Apart from him, we still don’t know if the other actors will be returning or not. But mostly, we assume that they won’t be unless there is a prequel or the sequel constitutes flashbacks.

According to Netflix, “Gi-hun returns. The Front Man returns. Season 2 is coming. The man in the suit with ddakji might be back. You’ll also be introduced to Young-hee’s boyfriend, Cheol-su.”

Hwang Jun-ho mentioned that he would not be returning for a second season. Variety reported that Hwang is currently working on the film, KO Club, which follows a story that constitutes generational fights.

In a conversation with New York Times, Lee Jung-jae, who reprised the role of Seong G-hun, said, “Gi-hun’s feelings may be highly convoluted, therefore it’s hard to answer this question without knowing more about the story. He’s a fascinating figure. I suppose he could take the game’s makers to court. Alternatively, he might strive to prevent new players from participating. Alternatively, he might re-enter the game. At this moment, I have no idea.”
