Station 19 Season 7: Will we get new updates in August?

Station 19 Season 7 Release Date: When is it premiering on ABC?

After much anticipation ever since the series was renewed for a seventh season back in April 2023, for the 2023–24 broadcast season, the fandom was quite excited to see the new chapter of the firefighters from the Seattle Fire Department at Station 19 from the captain down the ranks to the newest recruit in their personal and professional lives. After all, the renewal is not a surprise as the show has been able to average approximately 8.3 million people who have watched an average of 35 days of ABC’s “Station 19″ across traditional and digital platforms.

Even though this was a great update for the fandom to look forward to, sadly, the excitement for its comeback didn’t last long, as the season’s scheduled premiere was bound to happen sometime in the fall of ABC 2023-24 broadcast season has been put on definite hold! The main reason is the ongoing dual strikes, which include the 2023 WGA strike along with the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, which doesn’t seem to end anytime soon!

Station 19 Season 7: Will we get new updates in August?

Hence causing many production houses to halt their work temporarily, with reports circulating that the writing for the upcoming season has not started, which is quite unfortunate when we consider the fact that filming usually begins by the summer season if the network is aiming for its fall release later this year. As a direct result of this situation, it looks like the eagerly awaited new season of the series, which has become one of the highest-rated and most-watched shows on the ABC network since its inception, will not be available to stream anytime soon, especially since this year, making the fandom wait for longer than they anticipated!

The network has also confirmed and decided to postpone the release date for the majority of their scripted shows until next year! The ABC network has decided to include all the unscripted shows along with the reruns of prior seasons for the remaining months of 2023 in order to cover up the empty slots for the fall broadcast season due to the lack of active writers and actors that are taking part in the ongoing strikes causing delays in writing and production, which might last for quite some weeks, allowing the network to publish the revised schedule.

Due to this, any hopes from the network to release any new details about the new season in August 2023, let alone any expectation for the network to release the potential release date in the coming months, are way too far-fetched!

Moreover, after analyzing the current timeline, it’s not far-fetched to assume, and there leaving no doubt in our mind that the series will make its comeback sometime in the first quarter of 2024, which is January, February, and March. Only if the production commences by the end of this year, it is also speculated to air at the same time slot every Thursday at 8:00 pm on ABC and later be available to stream on Hulu on a weekly basis without causing any unwanted changes in the primetime schedule. Until then, we’ll just have to wait, as more details will be confirmed later.

Last but not least, we strongly advise our readers to follow ABC on social media in order to be informed about all the recent information. To stay up-to-date on the dual strikes, the readers should also pay attention to the official statements made by credible sources in the press releases that will be issued in the near future to be informed about the status of the strikes that are happening for the first time in 63 years. Also, check out the official renewal announcement as shared on Station 19’s Twitter handle, quoting, “More episodes of #Station19 is coming in hot with Season 7.”

Take a look at the official post below:

Station 19 Season 7 Production Status: Has it begun?

One thing is pretty much clear, sadly, due to the ongoing 2023 WGA strike along with the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, which has put Hollywood on a halt for the first time in 63 years, we assume that the filming might take a while to resume the completion of scripts and filming of the episodes, just like many other original ABC series, which have also stopped their work due to a lack of writers and actors, leading to a major delay in the official production, which is speculated to commence later this year as the negotiations are still bound to happen in the coming weeks!

Moreover, in a recent meeting which was held for the first time in more than three months! Sadly, the Writers Guild and the AMPTP on Friday failed to reach an agreement to resume contract negotiations. Their inability to agree on terms for returning to the bargaining table comes after their much-anticipated meeting to discuss a possible resumption of talks. “As of now, there is no agreement on these items, because the AMPTP said they needed to consult with their member studios before moving forward,” the union said in a statement last Friday.

Due to this, there is definitely no room for these questions, and we are convinced that the next season will be put off even longer to coincide with the eventual official release on ABC.

Station 19 Season 7 Plot: What to expect in the new season?

Fans are eagerly awaiting any information that will give them a glimpse into what lies ahead. But sadly, not much has been revealed about the plot of the next season, as it is way too early for the network to reveal such crucial plotlines, which can lead to early spoilers. But we are certain that the series’ new chapter will expand on its basic premise, which follows: “In Seattle, all firefighters are also trained EMTs and the crew at Station 19 is second to none. Working in 24-hour shifts, these professionals spend so much time together that they build relationships, unlike any others.”

In addition to this, the new co-showrunner, Peter Paige, stated, “I’m beyond honored to be handed the reins to Station 19 – a show I love, full of incredible, complex characters, and resonant, important stories. To get to partner with a talent like Zoanne as showrunner truly makes it all the more exciting – we share a similar vision for the show, and we’ve got some incredible twists and turns planned for the coming season.” This highlights that the next season will surely be as action-packed as the prior seasons, which is one of the main things the fans desire to see moving forward!

“I feel incredibly honored to be entrusted with this dynamic and relevant show alongside Peter,” Clack said. Further adding, “The diversity of the cast, writers, and crew in addition to their enormous talent and dedication to their craft makes this a thrilling adventure to undertake. We are excited about the stories we get to tell using this worldwide platform and both understand the responsibility of being able to share them as we reach millions of homes weekly. Many thanks to Krista and Shondaland for this opportunity and their faith in us.”

*Spoiler Alert*

As we know that most of the specifics of the seventh season have been kept under wraps. But it is without a doubt clear that the next season will continue from the sixth season’s finale episode, “Glamorous Life,” which showcased the team attending the Firefighters Ball, where Warren will receive his Medal of Valor. After some encouragement from Miranda, Warren accepts the award in honor of those who could not be saved. Dixon is there because his wife oversees the ball. Gibson notices a pregnant waitress named Nanette.

Later, we learn that Ross privately tells Herrera that she will be named captain. The news leaks out, and Hughes wants to celebrate, which upsets Ruiz. Ruiz and Hughes argue about their relationship. Later, Gibson catches Ruiz kissing Kate Powell. When smoke comes out of a wall, Ross has Herrera take command to find the source.

She extinguishes the fire in the basement but notices that the floor above is about to collapse. She tries to warn the guests, but people, including Ross, Dixon, and Nanette, fall into the hole. Bishop and DeLuca find Nanette and perform an emergency delivery of her baby. Sullivan finds and revives Ross, and they make up. Montgomery finds Dixon, but he succumbs to his injuries and dies. The situation gets under control when, suddenly, Gibson collapses. In the meantime, also take a look at the official promo of the final episode to get an idea about the plot which has transpired so far:

Station 19 Season 7 Episodes: How many will be there, and where to stream?

The exact episode count for the seventh season has yet to be announced, but the new co-showrunner Zoanne Clack has confirmed that the new season will be shortened to approximately 12 to 15 episodes as a direct result of the ongoing dual strikes and cost-cutting, which is a bit disappointing, but probably the best move for the show to at least release new episodes rather than being on a prolonged production schedule to film the standard episode count, which will cause further delays in the series release. We’d also like to point out that the titles and synopsis have not been released.

These details will be revealed once the release date draws closer to avoid any early spoilers of the seventh season’s plotlines. Additionally, we highly urge viewers to catch up with the prior seasons to get an idea of how the story will unfold in the future.
