Step Up Season 4: Is it happening or not?

Step Up: Will there be a Season 4?

Unfortunately, the answer is NO! Starz has officially confirmed that the fourth season of Step Up has been canceled by the network after three seasons. The first two seasons of the Lionsgate TV TV-produced Step Up ran on YouTube. After the Google-owned company in 2019 pulled out of the original scripted business, leaving the series in limbo, Lionsgate-owned Starz stepped in and picked it up for a third season.

The cancellation of Step Up follows Starz’s cancellation of another Lionsgate TV-produced series, Dangerous Liaisons, reversing its early Season 2 renewal. Lionsgate has been scrutinizing its balance sheets as the company is preparing to spin off its studio from Starz next year though sources indicated that the cancellations are largely the product of fiscal austerity in a very tough economic environment as media companies are stepping up cost-cutting measures.

Take a look at some of the fan’s reactions to the sudden cancellation of the show:

Step Up Plot

Inspired by the Lionsgate film franchise, Step Up follows the drama, scandalous romance, betrayals, and rivalries told through the intersection of the worlds of music and dance within a highly sought-after performance empire. The series follows the students and faculty of “High Water”, Atlanta’s most cutthroat performing arts school. When twins Tal and Janelle relocate from Ohio, they find themselves thrust into a world where every move is a test. As they attempt to navigate their new world – on and off the dance floor – they will discover just how deep they are willing to dig to realize their dreams and seize their moment.

Step Up Cast and Crew

The main cast members of the series are as follows Lauryn McClain as Janelle Baker, Petrice Jones and Keiynan Lonsdale as Tal Baker, Marcus Mitchell as Dondre Hall, Terrence Green as Rigo Octavio, Carlito Olivero as Davis Jimenez, Jade Chynoweth as Odalie Allen, Kendra Oyesanya as Poppy Martinez, Eric Graise as King, Faizon Love as Al Baker, Naya Rivera, and Christina Milian as Collette Jones, Ne-Yo as Sage Odom, Terayle Hill as Marquise Howard, Rebbi Rose as Angel Etomi, Enrique Murciano as Ricardo Cruz, and Tricia Helfer as Erin Baxter. The recurring cast members of the series are as follows R. Marcos Taylor as Earnest Octavio/East-O, Al Calderon as Johnny One, Saidah Nairobi as Electra, Ashley Greene as Nine Sanders, Jeremy Copeland as Zo Browder, and Cruz Abelita as Justin.

Step Up is created and executive produced by Holly Sorensen. Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot, who served as producers on the original Step Up films, also executive produce through their Offspring Entertainment banner. Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, who both co-starred in the original Step Up film, also executive produce through Free Association production company and Everheart Productions, Inc., respectively. Erik Feig, who served as producer on all the films and oversaw the franchise while an executive at Lionsgate, executive produces via his production shingle Picturestart. Bill Brown also serves as writer and executive producer, and Dawn Wilkinson serves as director and executive producer.
