Attention readers! The beloved science fiction horror drama will be back. Here’s everything we know so far about
Stranger Things Season 5.
It’s been a whole year since the fifth and final season was announced by Netflix back in February 2022 and the fandom is all hyped up to know when this popular series will premiere the final season, especially after how the fourth season ended, “Chapter Nine: The Piggyback,” with selfless hearts and a clash of metal, heroes fight from every corner of the battlefield to save Hawkins and the world itself.
There is no question that the gang is prepared to immediately jump into action to save Hawkins from more supernatural occurrences after such a significant cliffhanger!
It’s fair to say that the wait is going to be tortuous, and we can feel the same as you. If you speculate about the potential release date and plotlines of the upcoming season. So, for your convenience, we have listed some crucial details that will serve as a guide to understanding when the season is likely to premiere on Netflix.
Much to readers’ delight it has been confirmed that the season will consist of eight episodes, and the principal photography is all set to begin in May 2023, which is exciting to hear that everything is going on a timely schedule! When it comes to the potential release date everything at this moment is just speculation. But, in a recent interview, David Harbour suggested that the final season will debut sometime in 2024.
He told GQ UK that the Duffers would be writing and doing pre-production on Season 5 that year, and the plan is to shoot in 2023, followed by post-production. “So it’d probably come out mid-2024, based on our track record,” the actor said. On the other hand, his co-star Finn Wolfhard has implied that Season 5 will be out sometime in 2025.
More recently, Harbour has also disclosed that the show won’t actually begin shooting until June 2023, so the wait will probably be longer than we first anticipated. Speaking with Collider, the actor said: ‘We’re walking into season five. I’ve got a couple more months to train. We start shooting that in June, though, and that will be the final season.’
After all these hints it’s fair to say that it’s going to be a very long hiatus!
If you noticed the previous chapters had a similar year gap in order to be consistent among the fans and build the hype for the new season more than it did before. In addition to this, the episode’s time slot on the streaming platform is expected to be around 12:00 a.m. (PT) or 3:00 a.m. (ET), just like other original shows. Stranger Things 5: What to expect?
The Duffer Brothers hinted at one major plot detail in a June interview with TVLine, they revealed that season 5 is likely to feature a time jump, as Ross Duffer previously told TVLine: “I’m sure we will do a time jump. Ideally, we’d have shot [seasons 4 and 5] back to back, but there was just no feasible way to do that. So these are all discussions we’re going to have with our writers when we start the room up.”
According to the Duffers Brothers, the season will likely not introduce new characters and will focus on the established ones. “We’re doing our best to resist [adding new characters] for Season 5,” Matt Duffer told IndieWire. “We’re trying not to do that so we can focus on the OG characters, I guess.”
Ross continued, dishing on the thought process behind including new characters: “Whenever we introduce a new character, we want to make sure that they’re going to be an integral part of the narrative,” he began. “But every time we do that, we’re nervous because you go, ‘We’ve got a great cast of characters here and actors, and any moment we’re spending with a new character, we’re taking away time from one of the other actors.’ So we’re just very, very careful about who we’re introducing.”
Additionally, Noah was coy about the Stranger Things conclusion in a December 2022 interview with Forbes, but he did give a few hints about what his character, Will, might be up to. “I can just tell you that I’m very very excited for what’s to come. I think they did a great job with Will’s character this season, and beautifully addressed everything they needed to,” the actor told. “The way they closed the show is just perfect — the story started with Will, and it’ll end with Will.”
That’s not all! The Duffer Brothers also hinted at quick pacing for the final season in an interview with Josh Horowitz for his Happy Sad Confused podcast.
The final season will take place in Hawkins and pick up from the cliffhanger conclusion of season 4, which saw The Upside Down eventually merge with the normal world. “For the first time ever, we don’t wrap things up at the end of [season] 4, so… it’s going to be moving pretty fast. Characters are already going to be in action. “They’re already going to have a goal and a drive, and I think that’s going to carve out at least a couple hours and make this season feel really different.”
While you wait for Stranger Things 5 to premiere on Netflix. We recommend that the readers catch up with the prior season, which showcased that it’s been eight months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends is separated for the first time.
