Succession Season 4: Is it the final season?

The possibility of Succession’s fourth season being the final season has been discussed in a new interview with Jeremy Strong by GQ Magazine. His portrayal of Kendall Roy made him a significant phenomenon as well as infamous for his extreme approach to acting. Over the seasons, Strong has considered what it will mean to say goodbye to Kendall Roy, the deeply troubled billionaire scion he’s been inhabiting for the past five years.

After depicting such an iconic character, there are some doubts that any actor has concerning whether this will be the pinnacle of his career. “It will feel like a death, in a way,” he says. Strong thinks about his coworkers, who have finished five, six, or seven projects while he was working on Succession. He envies “that freedom to just shoot yourself out of some different cannons. Sometimes Kendall feels like the same cannon over and over again.”

This interview kind of suggests that the show might be racing towards its end; it’s just a matter of time until HBO officially confirms it to the fans. On the other hand, writer Georgia Pritchett told The Sunday Times that the writers already are plotting the next season. “I think the maximum would be five seasons but possibly more like four,” she told the newspaper. Further adding, “At this point [Armstrong] is saying only one more [season]. But that happens every time. We’ve got a good end in sight.”
