Finally, the good news has arrived, and now fans can unwind! Here is all the information we currently have for the seventh season of S.W.A.T.

After hearing the dreadful news a few days ago that the popular American procedural action drama television series, which has been able to rule and compete in this genre of television for years, was suddenly canceled after six successful seasons at CBS. The announcement sent major shock waves across the fandom and caused confusion as to why, despite being able to get a fairly good reception when compared to other series, this decision was approved.

The backlash from the beloved fans was enormous, and they started campaigning in full swing to raise their voice for the series to be uncanceled and requested it is renewed for at least one additional season, which it truly deserves to get in order for the story to conclude in a satisfactory way and not leave the fans with so many unanswered plot holes.

It is kind of surprising that, despite being on air for so many years, the love for these characters hasn’t faded in any way. After all, such a sudden decision can truly be disappointing, considering the viewers are the ones who have invested their time in watching the series and will not get to know how the story ends. Hence, the sheer number of tweets that were being directed toward the show’s creators and cast members continued to happen every hour of the day, which led to some behind-the-scenes discussions.

Fans had been anxiously waiting for some update while the deliberations were going on, which has been nerve-wracking as they were hoping for some favorable outcome. What felt like an eternity was finally confirmed, and the outcome has been worth it. Much to the fans’ delight, their hearts leaped with joy as the decision was announced in their favor, and S.W.A.T. has been renewed for a seventh and final season!

Yes! The celebration among the loyal fans has skyrocketed as their attempts to save the show have paid off perfectly, and the deal has been done. We know that the conversations about S.W.A.T.’s seventh and final season, which will consist of 13 episodes, were resumed by CBS and Sony Pictures Television on Friday and continued through the weekend and into Monday. Additionally, series star Shemar Moore has been added as an executive producer.

The renewal was also confirmed on Twitter, quoting, “We have listened to our viewers and their outpouring of passion for S.W.A.T. and we have reached an agreement to renew it for a final season of 13 episodes to air during the 2023-2024 broadcast year,” Amy Reisenbach, President, CBS Entertainment, and Katherine Pope, President, Sony Pictures Television Studios, said in a joint statement.

Further adding, “S.W.A.T. has aired for six seasons on CBS and garnered a devoted following. We are pleased that we found a way to bring it back and give closure to the show’s storylines and characters, which audiences deserve. Once again, we appreciate the talents and efforts of the cast, writers, producers, and crew, and everyone who has contributed to the success of S.W.A.T. We look forward to its return next season.” Take a look at the official statement below:

S.W.A.T. Season 7: What to expect in the new season?

With the confirmation of another season, we can speculate that the series will make its official return sometime around the fall of 2023, with October being the likely time frame, just like the prior two installments for the 2023–24 TV season. This can only happen if the production is properly scheduled and completed on time. The network will try its best to not delay the rollout of the episodes any further, as it doesn’t make sense for the final season to be prolonged for months.

On the other hand, the series is expected to continue airing new episodes every Friday at 8/7c. As a result of this slot’s thriving viewership and strong 8 PM anchor, S.W.A.T. has helped revive CBS’ Friday drama lineup and introduce new audiences to watching other series from its extensive catalog. When it comes to the plot, not much has been revealed, but the series will definitely pick up the elements from the seventh season finale to continue the story and cover all the plot holes left in the 13-episode order.

S.W.A.T. Season 6: When will the final episodes air?

Inspired by the television series and the feature film, S.W.A.T. stars Shemar Moore as a former Marine and locally born and raised S.W.A.T. sergeant, tasked to run a specialized tactical unit that is the last stop in law enforcement in Los Angeles. Torn between loyalty to where he was raised and allegiance to his brothers in blue, Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson strives to bridge the divide between his two worlds and acclimate to his new duties as the legal guardian of a teenager.
