Sydney Sweeney used a new Allure video interview to directly tackle long-running rumors about cosmetic procedures and to clarify why comparisons between her childhood photos and her adult appearance are misleading.

The conversation took place alongside her The Housemaid co-star Amanda Seyfried. When asked to choose a beauty rumor to address, Sweeney selected the speculation about her appearance that has followed her throughout her career.

Before denying any procedures, she emphasized how much the subject had followed her. “Let’s debunk them all. I mean, I have never gotten work done,” she said, explaining her fear of injections with, “I am so scared of needles, you have no idea.”

Attention later shifted to online commentary that uses old images of her as proof of alleged changes. Sweeney addressed the practice directly, pointing out the gap between childhood photos and modern studio lighting, “You cannot compare a photo of me from when I was 12 to a photo of me at 26 with professional makeup and lighting. Of course I’m going to look different.”

She also commented on the extreme reactions she sees online, saying, “Everybody on social media’s insane.”

Seyfried joined the discussion by offering a broader perspective. The longtime actor noted that cosmetic procedures can become more relevant at different stages of life, saying, “Some of it can be really effective once you get older.”

Before Seyfried could elaborate, Sweeney playfully cut in and joked that she would call her if she ever decided to try anything. Seyfried leaned into the humor while acknowledging Sweeney’s fear of needles. “You gotta call me, and I’ll give you a little bit of Ativan, and you’ll be so excited,” she said.

The interview then shifted into more personal territory when Sweeney referenced a physical detail that often fuels speculation online. She pointed back to an accident from her youth and described its lasting effect.

“One of my eyes opens a little more than the other,” she said, noting that the wakeboarding incident required nineteen stitches.

Seyfried responded with reassurance, saying she could not spot the asymmetry, saying, “I still don’t see it, but there’s an art to it.”

She also approached the subject of cosmetic procedures with caution, highlighting the risks of excessive work.
“You can’t just get it everywhere, like a lot of people do,” she said.

The discussion echoed points Sweeney made earlier this fall in an interview with Variety. She recalled the kind of criticism she encountered when she was just entering the industry.

“I have very strong eyebrow muscles. And I had someone tell me to fix my face or else I’m not going to make it. I should get Botox. I was 16,” the actress said

In that same Variety conversation, she reiterated her commitment to aging naturally and said, “I’ve never gotten anything done. I’m absolutely terrified of needles. No tattoos. Nothing. I’m going to age gracefully.”
