Taylor Swift gave fans a glimpse into some amusing and heartfelt moments from her personal life recently, revealing a funny mix-up involving her fiancé, Travis Kelce and actor Hugh Grant’s wife, as well as sharing how she is choosing to keep parts of their relationship private.

The pop superstar appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Oct. 8, where she recounted an entertaining story from her 2024 Eras Tour in London. During the tour’s second London date in June, NFL star Kelce met Hugh Grant and his wife, Anna Eberstein, in the VIP tent. What followed was a case of mistaken identity — Kelce thought Eberstein was Greta Gerwig, the acclaimed director behind Barbie and Lady Bird.

According to Swift, Kelce congratulated Eberstein on his favorite Gerwig film, Barbie, not realizing he was speaking to the wrong person. Adding to the humor, Kelce made an “I’m just Ken” joke, pointing at Swift. It wasn’t until after the event that he realized he had been addressing Grant’s confused wife, not Gerwig herself.

After the party, Kelce told Swift how much fun he had meeting celebrities, including Grant, but never mentioned Gerwig. This puzzled Swift, who initially thought Gerwig might have just heard the “Ken” joke too many times to respond. Kelce also noted that Grant and Gerwig were dancing closely and sharing inside jokes throughout the evening, leading him to believe they might be working on a movie together. “They kind of seem like they’re like soulmates,” Swift recalled Kelce saying.

When Swift showed Kelce videos of him dancing with Gerwig, Kelce corrected her: “Oh, that’s not Greta.” That’s when she realized Kelce had confused Anna Eberstein for Gerwig.

“The good thing is he recognized true love,” quipped host Seth Meyers. “He saw soulmates, and he knew you were soulmates.”

Hugh Grant himself later expressed admiration for Swift, tweeting praise for her show and calling Kelce an “excellent if gigantic boyfriend,” even hinting at some celebratory tequila shots during the concert. Swift responded by declaring herself an official “stan” of Grant, underscoring the mutual respect between the stars.

Amid the fun stories, Swift also opened up about a more private side of her relationship with Kelce during a recent interview on Ryan Seacrest’s On Air radio show. Speaking about the NFL player’s romantic proposal, she revealed that while she’s shared sweet photos from the moment, some details are being intentionally kept just between them.

“I gotta figure out like ways to make sure that I do have things that are just between us, and thankfully, we do have a lot of those things,” Swift said. She emphasized that the exact moment of the proposal “is one that’s always just going to be ours” and “will always be mine.”

This glimpse into Swift’s desire to balance sharing her life with fans while protecting intimate moments highlights how she manages fame alongside her personal life.

The fun and candid moments come alongside Swift’s recent musical milestone, the release of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on October 3.
