Is the Endgame Season 2 canceled by NBC Network? Continue reading to learn more.
The Endgame is an American crime drama thriller television series that premiered on NBC on February 21, 2022. The series is created by Nicholas Wootton and Jake Coburn. The Endgame was a promising show that deserved to be continued instead of being canceled. Many have expressed the thought that this series had the potential to offer more, and the viewers were taken aback and wondered what the faith of the series will be decided by the network.

So, those who have been eagerly anticipating the next chapter, we have some bad news for you. The show was cut short after a good one season of building up with great plotlines and characters that viewers have grown to love. Unfortunately, NBC has decided to cancel the drama series which is devastating news for anyone who enjoyed the series’ different elements of the show so far. Here’s everything we know about the abrupt cancellation of The Endgame Season 2.
Will there be a second season of The Endgame?
NBC network stated on May 12, 2022, that The Endgame Season 2 would be canceled after Season 1. As a result, the series has no chance of getting renewed by the network, as many shows have been canceled by multiple channels across streaming platforms this year. On the other hand, despite the fact that this series was able to capture the attention of viewers who were ready to watch more seasons of these shows in order to have a good ending narrative that these cherished characters deserved, will now be unable to do so. Sadly, despite having a strong run on the network, this is not a good end in the case of The Endgame.

Why did NBC cancel The Endgame Season 2?
According to Deadline, the series was discontinued after one season though the exact reasons for it to be not renewed are not indicated in the report. On the other hand, it is revealed that the series hasn’t performed poorly in terms of ratings or total viewers, but it hasn’t broken any records either.
If we look at the reports from Tvline, it indicates that the series had 3.6 million total weekly viewers and a 0.4 demo rating as of May 1, attracting a larger audience but a weaker demo score than its time slot predecessor Ordinary Joe. It ranks No. 13 in the demo and No. 12 in the audience among the 14 dramas NBC has shown this TV season.

So, the reasons which lead to the cancelation of the show are yet to be determined officially by the network but fans have speculated that there may have been conflicting interests among the show creators or other departments which might have led to such a conclusion and short run of the show. This is just speculation at this point in time that might be cleared by the network in the future.

There’s no way I just watched NBC’s The Endgame just for it to leave on a cliffhanger and they cancelled season 2.

What is The Endgame about?
According to the official statement by NBC, the series is based on the plot that follows, “When international arms dealer and criminal mastermind Elena Federova orchestrates seven simultaneous New York City bank heists, principled and relentless agent Val Turner vows to take her down. An outcast in the bureau, Val soon learns that she’ll have to use clues from her own complicated past to try to decipher Elena’s cryptic games. However, as the mystery starts to unravel and chilling secrets are revealed, Val begins to question her own sense of justice when it becomes clear that nothing is as it seems.”

What could have been the plot of The Endgame Season 2?
As of May 24, 2022, Season 1 has aired all the 10 episodes of the series which was concluded on May 2, 2022. The final episode of the series, Happily Ever After, was directed by David Tuttman and Randy Zisk, and the screenplay was written by Lisa Takeuchi Cullen & Moira Kirland. It is estimated that the episode was viewed by 1.45 million US viewers.
The official synopsis of the episode states, “An escape plan goes haywire and old foes face off; Val learns a secret about Owen.” Take a look at the official promo below:
*Spoilers Ahead*
In the episode, the viewers got to see that Federova has told Sofiya her goal as a bedtime story in the past. Owen and Sergey board one of the trucks to flee Peekskill; in the meantime, Snow White locates and saves Federova. Val realizes in Peekskill that “Timothy Collins” is actually Sergey Vodianov and that Federova was lying about him being dead the whole time.
When Val figures out Federova’s scheme and begs the warden to search down Sergey and Owen, the warden summons Natalia. The Beloks now have the trucks, which have been camouflaged, as Val suspected. Doak’s plan to capture Sofiya fails, and Federova and her daughter escape. Wright requests the incriminating video from Doak.

Val surmises that the gold will be loaded onto a ship, which Owen and Sergey will attempt to hijack. A truck is hijacked by Owen and Sergey. Val and Anthony reclaim the gold from the three Belok trucks at the docks as one of the drivers, unlike the others, is revealed to be US military. Réal discloses that while chasing Snow White and now the Beloks, CIA Director Takayama was employing the man as an undercover operative; Owen has also been a CIA undercover operative the entire time. Sergey pulls a gun on Owen while driving to Teterboro Airport.
Val deduces that when Federova mentioned a “rescue,” she was referring to Owen; her clues lead Val to a cathedral, where she stops Sergey just as he is about to murder Owen, but Snow White appears and corners Val and Owen. Before she and Sergey leave, Federova appears and says she has enough of Natalia’s dolls to bring the Beloks down. Wright is wounded and threatened by Natalia. Doak replaces the incriminating fob with a virus-infected one provided by Wright at Totten, and Réal makes Halima swear to keep it between them.

Natalia and her goons assault Federova and Sergey on their way to the airport with Sofiya, wounding Sergey and Federova and kidnapping Sofiya, demanding Federova deliver the gold if she wants her daughter back. They also planted a bomb in Sergey’s car while Federova was distracted, and Federova watched her husband die helplessly.
Anthony witnesses Doak attempting to destroy the fob only to drop it in his pocket and flee; Réal forces him to vow not to tell anybody, including Val, and reveals that he believes Doak is planning to use the fob to blackmail Wright. Val advises Owen to leave Totten because she cannot forgive him.
Federova’s blue dress, which she wore for the majority of the ten days since the series began, comes to her as she sifts through recollections of her and Federova’s encounters. As she notices a thread on the dress that is out of place, Federova’s remark about “pulling threads” comes to her. Pulling on the thread displays a map of the dolls’ positions.
Federova asks Val for assistance in a cliffhanger. Speaking of cliffhangers, the very final scene shows that if the show had been renewed for a second season, it would have picked up immediately where the first season’s finale episode left off. The plot for Season 2 could have been explored and reflected the viewers with a general idea leading to the next season and character arcs.

As a result, we can’t predict what important details or surprises would have occurred in The Endgame Season 2, how the season would have expanded, or what storyline would have emerged in future episodes if the series had been renewed, which is unfortunate because fans won’t be able to watch and explore more to say a proper goodbye to these beloved characters if the series would have given a chance by taking the consideration of the viewers.
