The Flash Season 9: What happened in the final season?

Season 9 is broken into two “Graphic Novel” storyline arcs, known as the eighth and ninth graphic novels respectively; this numbering continues from the first seven “Graphic Novels” established in the previous three seasons. The ninth and final season starts with the team fighting a speedster called Red Death. Utilizing technology from Wayne Enterprises, Red Death obtains minions in Captain Boomerang II, Fiddler II, Murmur II, Rainbow Raider, and a grieving Chillblaine.

While it was claimed by Batwing that Ryan Wilder had gone missing while on patrol as Batwoman, Red Death is revealed to be Wilder from an alternate Earth. After Chillblaine redeems himself, Barry defeats Red Death with help from Gorilla Grodd and Batwoman. Later, Rosso returns and intends to infect the newly-recreated multiverse, but Barry stops him with help from Oliver Queen, John Diggle, and Wally West.

After this, Eddie, who had been mysteriously resurrected and given a false life and memories, is chosen as the new avatar for the Negative Speed Force, becoming the speedster Cobalt Blue in the process. Bringing Eobard, Zoom, Savitar, and Godspeed back with him, Eddie fights against team Flash but ultimately stands down after coming into a truce with Barry. The series ends with the birth of Nora, and Barry choosing Avery Ho, Max Mercury, and Jess Chambers to become new speedsters.
