Is it really time to bid farewell to “The Goldbergs”? Continue reading to learn more.
It’s been an incredible journey, full of laughs, tears, and some seriously epic ’80s fashion, which has finally come to an end as, “The Goldbergs,” is wrapping up after ten awe-inspiring seasons of hugs and snuggles. This half-hour, from creator Adam F. Goldberg and Sony Pictures TV, is the longest-running live-action network comedy series currently on the air, and it’s true that there won’t be many more joining the exclusive club of live-action broadcast comedies with double-digit seasons and 200 episode runs in the future.
After all, seeing the state of modern broadcast channels, it’s a bittersweet feeling to say goodbye to such a beloved show, which has treated fans with amazing episodes since 2013. On the other hand, we’ll be completely honest with our readers because this cancellation does not come as a surprise due to rising costs and declining ratings, and there have been questions about how long The Goldbergs can go on for the past few years.
If you recall, Deadline highlighted before that, ABC signed new contracts with The Goldbergs star/EP Wendi McLendon-Covey, as well as original cast members Sean Giambrone, Troy Gentile, and Hayley Orrantia, a year ago. This allowed the network to bring the comedy back for Season 10 and give it a proper ending after a trying 2021. The Goldbergs is the second ABC series to be canceled this season, following the drama, “A Million Little Things.”
Following the cancellation, Craig Erwich, president of ABC Entertainment, Hulu, and Disney Branded Television Streaming Originals, stated, “We are so proud of the 10 years we were able to spend with The Goldbergs.” He also added, “This is an incredible team and we’re so thankful for the joy and entertainment they brought to so many over this time. We look forward to celebrating their final chapter along with the fans in the weeks ahead.”
McLendon-Covey also expressed thoughts on the show’s ending, quoting, “It’s been an honor to be part of The Goldbergs for the last decade. I’m really proud of what we accomplished with the show, and I’m so lucky to have had such a rewarding experience. I will miss my TV family and every last crew member.”
Further adding, “Thanks to our brilliant writers for giving us thoughtful story arcs year after year, and for being so collaborative. Thanks to the best EPs in the business. And thanks to all our fans (the Goldnerds) for being so sweet and supportive. My heart is full…But I definitely hope I never see another pair of shoulder pads for the rest of my life.”
As soon as it was announced that “The Goldbergs Season 10″ will be the final season, many reactions began to pour in across social media, revealing how much the show is truly loved and appreciated. Take a look at some of the reactions we have included below:
