Within one month of the season 1 release of The Lincoln Lawyer, Netflix officially renewed the show for a second season. You can probably guess how popular and binge-worthy the show must have been since its premiere in May 2022.
For those unversed with the show, The Lincoln Lawyer is based upon Michael Connelly’s book, The Brass Verdict, featuring Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, reprising the role of Mickey Haller. The story follows the life of Haller as a lawyer and an array of cases he is assigned after a mysterious murder of his contemporary, followed by Haller’s recovery from a tragic incident.
Created by David E. Kelley, the official plotline of the show reads, “Sidelined after an accident, hotshot Los Angeles lawyer Mickey Haller restarts his career – and his trademark Lincoln – when he takes on a murder case.”
Season 2 of The Lincoln Lawyer will also be based upon Micahel Connelly’s work, titled The Fifth Witness. Apart from Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, the series will also be casting Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, Angus Sampson and Christopher Gorham. In addition to them, Season 2 is also expected to add new cast members to the list.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2: What’s the update?
The release date of The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 is not announced as of yet. Be that as it may, the second season won’t be released in 2022 since it wasn’t included in the complete list of releases of new movies and shows for the month of December. However, according to Netflix Life the filming of The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 officially began in late October 2022. Not only that, but the filming is expected to wrap sometime around March 2023.
The time gap between the production and premiere of The Lincoln Lawyer season 1 was nine months. Taking into consideration this gap, season 2 can be expected to hit Netflix in winter 2023.
This is not the only update we have for this show.
According to Netflix Life, Neve Campbell, who reprised the role of Maggie McPherson, Mickey’s first ex-wife and a criminal prosecutor, will be returning in the second season, not as a series regular but as a recurring character.
Campbell successfully landed a leading role in ABC’s drama series, Avalon. Unfortunately, this meant that she would have to take up a smaller role in other works. On the brighter side, Campbell would have to reteam with Kelly and Connelly again after working together on The Lincoln Lawyer.
Although now her role has been reduced to a recurring, we still hope that Neve Campbell’s role as Maggie McPherson is made bigger again in the future. And if you’re already a fan of The Lincoln Lawyer, you would also love ABC’s Avalon.
