It’s almost been 10 months now and we haven’t inched closer to the second season of The Lincoln Lawyer. All the devoted fans of the series are perched on the edge of their seats to hear some update or even a crumb of information related to the legal drama. If you’re one of them, then we would recommend sitting comfortably in your seat, because we have compiled all the latest updates regarding The Lincoln Lawyer season 2.

Featuring Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in the lead role, The Lincoln Lawyer is a legal drama based on Michael Connelly’s book, The Brass Verdict. The Netflix original recapitulates the fictional story of Haller as a lawyer and an array of cases he is assigned after a mysterious murder of his contemporary, followed by Haller’s recovery from a tragic incident.

Ever since season one premiered on Netflix, it has garnered exponential popularity for its procedural setting, intricately connected with mystery, exuding lighthearted summer vibes. This explains the increasing viewership figures and also the consistency of the show’s position in Netflix’s Top 10 for multiple weeks.

That being said, the season 2 renewal was a no-brainer. Also based upon Michael Connelly’s work, The Fifth Witness, the second season will certainly feature Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in the lead role.

For those unversed, The Lincoln Lawyer is created by David E. Kelley and here’s the official plotline of the series: “Sidelined after an accident, hotshot Los Angeles lawyer Mickey Haller restarts his career – and his trademark Lincoln – when he takes on a murder case.”

When can we expect The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 to hit the Netflix library?

Season one of The Lincoln Lawyer premiered in May 2022, which leads the fans of the show to speculate the arrival of the second season to be in the spring of 2023. Be that as it may, that is not the case this time since the show is not enlisted in the recently released February line-up of new movies and shows released by Netflix.

Fortunately, not everything is veiled. We do have some information regarding the production status of Netflix’s legal drama. The filming on The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 reportedly began in late October 2022 and according to Netflix Life, it “has been pegged to wrap by March 2023.” Resultantly, the season won’t be released until May 2023. Not only that, there is a high possibility of the show not making a return by fall 2023. Netflix Life also contends that “the season could drop by October or November 2023.” However, these are just our mere speculations, you are free to take them with a grain of salt.

We know that The Lincoln Lawyer season one ended on a cliffhanger, featuring a scene where Mickey is going for a surf, all unaware of a mysterious man whose identity is veiled from the viewers except for a tattoo on his forearm, watching him from afar. Be that as it may, the devoted viewers of the series will have an epiphany upon seeing that man as they would connect the dots and infer that he is probably the same man who was recalled on the stand by a key witness in Jesus Menendez’s case, Glory Days.

For those unversed, Menendez was fallaciously convicted for a murder he did not commit and thereby faced redundant imprisonment for the same. However, in season one, we see that he was freed when Glory testified that he was genuinely innocent. In fact, he also explicated that the real killer was a man with a tattooed forearm. Glory does not reveal his identity, but a moment later, when the concluding scene features that tattooed forearm, stalking Mickey on the beach, we know that Mickey will be in great trouble. Presumably, the second season then will recapitulate the fallout of Glory’s testimony and the conjuncture of the mysterious man and Mickey.

As previously mentioned, The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 is confirmed to be based on Connelley’s book, The Fifth Witness. In this book, we see Mickey defending the long-standing client Lisa Trammel, who has been accused of killing her husband. The significance of the plot lies in Mickey’s persuasion of a key witness to take the Fifth Amendment before giving his testimony. This alludes to the right of refusing to answer questions that can aid in further criminal proceedings.

Who are the expected cast members of The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2?

Is Lincoln Lawyer season 2 coming to Netflix in October?

On October 26, 2022, Lana Parrilla was reported to be joining the cast of The Lincoln Lawyer season 2. Not only that but more recently Yana DaCosta, who is famous for her role as April Sexton in Chicago Med and Angela Vaughn in Fox’s Our Kind of People, will also be joining the cast of the second season of The Lincoln Lawyer.

According to Deadline, Yaya will be reprising the recurring role of Andrea Freemann, who is described as “a cut-throat prosecutor and Mickey Haller’s (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) undefeated courtroom rival, who is also a friend of his ex-wife Maggie (Neve Campbell).”

The expected cast members of The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 include:

  • Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller
  • Neve Campbell as Maggie McPherson (recurring)
  • Becki Newton as Lorna
  • Jazz Raycole as Izzy
  • Angus Sampson as Cisco
  • Krista Warner as Hayley Haller

Although Neve Campbell will be reprising her role as Maggie McPherson, her role has been reduced from a series regular to recurring, owing to her newly acquired lead role in the upcoming ABC series Avalon, which is also created by The Lincoln Lawyer creator David E. Kelley. It’s quite unfortunate we won’t be seeing Campbell in every episode, but it’s still exciting to see her popping in a few episodes.
