The Mosquito Coast Season 1: What happened in the final episode?
The finale episode, The Glass Sandwich, was released on June 4, 2021. The episode is directed by Clare Kilner and written by Gideon Yago. In the episode, the viewers got to see that the family continues their journey to a beach along the ocean, where Allie reiterates his desire to buy a boat and cruise upriver, looking for a spot to relocate and start over. Dina remains concerned about the families having to comply with her father’s intentions and confronts him, threatening to divide them. Margot is forced to intervene following a fight between Dina and Charlie as a result of Charlie’s continuous support for his father.
Lucrecia orders Lee to continue his search for the family. He gathers a gang of thugs to track down the family after learning about the campervan they were traveling in. Allie utilizes one of his contacts to book a boat for the next leg of their journey. Charlie comes across one of the henchmen, Isaias, who is photographing their campervan. He confronts Isaias with the revolver he stole in the desert and urges him not to transmit the photograph to Lee. Isaias does so anyhow, and Charlie shoots him in the face.
The local cops track Charlie down, arrest him and bring him back to the station. Lee learns that Isaias has died as a result of his injuries. Allie devises a scheme to free Charlie by utilizing the town’s underground drainage system. Margot tells Allie that they should call American officials to assist in Charlie’s release and that they should then return to America and transfer the children to live with her parents. Allie firmly rejects the suggestion and proceeds with his plan.
Margot and Dina create a distraction for the cops by setting surrounding cars on fire, while Allie poses as a mugged guy to enter the police station and then the cell area to free Charlie. Lee and his henchmen are close behind. Allie and Charlie escape via the underground drainage system and rejoin on a lifeboat with Margot and Dina before departing the town along the river. Allie and his family are then shown traveling upriver on the boat he purchased, heading to a new spot for the fresh start he promised.
