The adventures of Hargreeves from the mind-bending series are soon coming to an end!
The highly anticipated fourth and final season of the popular superhero television series is gearing up to make its debut on the streaming giant this year. The premiere date has been confirmed by Netflix, with the release of the official poster and a brief teaser trailer featuring Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore, all of whom are confirmed to reprise their roles one last time.
The season is scheduled to air its concluding chapter this summer season on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the same time slot of 12:00 a.m. (PT) or 3:00 a.m. (ET) for its worldwide release.
Additionally, the newly released clip gives a glimpse into how the season is being based on the comic series by Gerard Way, which follows a group of estranged siblings with superpowers who are reunited after the death of their father. Under the supervision of executive producers set to return alongside Steve Blackman include Jesse McKeown, who will also serve as co-showrunner; Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg, Scott Stuber, and Beau Bauman; and co-executive producers Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá.

On the other hand, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, and David Cross have also joined the cast. Offerman and Mullally will play Drs. Gene and Jean Thibedeau, a married pair of community college professors from New Mexico who wear sensible footwear and suffer from the most extreme case of deja vu this timeline has ever seen. Cross will play Sy Grossman, an upstanding, shy business owner and family man desperate to reconnect with his estranged daughter, who will stop at nothing to get her back.
In addition to this, the last season has been confirmed to include a total of six episodes with the first and final episode titles revealed as “The Unbearable Tragedy of Getting What You Want” and “End of the Beginning” respectively.
The story will continue after the cliffhanger ending of the third season which ended with our heroes stepping into a brand-new timeline — one where they were without powers, missing a few siblings, and already under the watchful eye of their father. This new timeline has been dictated by Hargreeves, but because of Allison’s actions, he doesn’t get to finish what he started. So, the siblings losing their powers isn’t going to be the only oddity in this timeline. There are new enemies who want to see them wiped out of existence, but how do they manage without their powers? Is there even a way to get them back?

Previously, showrunner Steve Blackman shared that Season 4 will explore one of the biggest mysteries from Gerard Way’s graphic novels, the source material for the series.
“I don’t want to say what it is, but the fans will probably figure it out,” he said. Last season ended with a whole lot of change, “Shaken, the family confronts the deadly mysteries of the Hotel Oblivion and the growing suspicion that their mission is not what it seems.” Further adding, “There are new enemies who want to see them wiped out of existence,” he said. “But how do they manage without their powers? Is there even a way to get them back?”
In the newly released featurette, the cast has also chimed in describing what Season 4 will be like, “[It’s] really, really packed with classic Umbrella Academy family nonsense and shenanigans that you look forward to,” says Emmy Raver-Lampman, who plays Allison Hargreeves. “There’s some unbelievable new characters and villains that are super exciting.” As for David Castañeda, who portrays Diego Hargreeves, he describes Season 4 as his “favorite season.”
