Whoopi Goldberg is backing up Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship against frustrated Chiefs fans who are blaming the pop star for the tight end’s lackluster NFL performance so far.

Recently, there has been a media uproar over the catalyst behind Kelce’s underperformance during the first three games of the NFL season. Even though his team, the Kansas City Chiefs have secured the Super Bowl two years in a row, and have maintained the winning streak for this season, the tight end’s performance has not contributed much to the three wins they achieved. ESPN commentators, football analysts, and Chiefs fans are holding Swift accountable for her boyfriend’s dull performance on the field.

Kelce had scored just 8 catches from 69 yards and has not scored a single touchdown yet. Compared to this, during his performance last year at this time, he had 17 receptions for 155 yards and two touchdowns. His off-season escapades with the billionaire singer have stirred contempt in the hearts of Chiefs fans, who were all for this relationship until it affected their player’s performance during NFL season.

‘The View’ hosts, however, have a different opinion. During their September 24 episode, moderator and actress Goldberg, 68, put the Chiefs fans in their place for place-blaming Kelce’s performance on Swift.

She addressed the issue with fellow co-hosts Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Sunny Hostin saying, “[The fans] apparently forgot that [the Chiefs] won the Super Bowl last year, and [Swift and Kelce] were just as tight then as they are now. What is going on?.”

She implicated that the news was being blown into unimaginable proportions given that the Kansas City Chiefs had secured the Super Bowl prize last season when Swift was still dating the footballer. In their discussion, they defended the 14-times Grammy winner arguing four points that every Chiefs fan must consider before bombarding baseless accusations towards the Kelce and Swift.

Firstly, co-host Griffin pointed out that the allegations hold little substance given that the Chiefs are currently on a winning streak, defeating the three teams they have played against so far.

Secondly, co-host Hostin specifies that the game that the fans are grumbling about was not even attended by Swift. She questioned that Swift “wasn’t even at the [recent] game,” jokingly adding, “Is she supposed to play the game, too?”

Thirdly, Griffin also noted that placing blame on one person in an 11-player team sport like football is biased. She noted, “As I understand it, football is a team sport. Just because he’s not making touchdowns doesn’t mean he’s not contributing to the success of the team,” before adding, “They’re currently undefeated this season. Once again, just the classic blaming a woman for a man.”

Griffin further alleged that the Chiefs fan thinks the ‘Don’t Blame Me’ hitmaker is a  “Magic 8 ball or a monkey foot” during Kelce’s games influencing his performance. She said that while Swift is powerful in her own right, she can’t “magically affect his game.”

Goldberg put forth the fourth point suggesting that the “MAGA crowd” was churning up these allegations against Swift because she was endorsing Kamala Harris over Donald Trump. Concluding the argument, the actress addressed the distressed fans asking them to “Grow up” and “stop putting this on her. Your team is fine, your team is doing well. Shut up!”

Kelce has yet to score a touchdown during this NFL Season.
