It was originally titled Isle of the Dead, however, it was later changed to the current title. The Walking Dead: Dead City: When will the new series premiere on AMC?
Yes, The Walking Dead: Dead City will definitely return to your screen, but just not this month. But the wait is not much longer as the new season will officially premiere next year on April 2023. It is reported to premiere on a weekly basis on Sunday at the time slot of 9/8c, which will be available to stream on a weekly basis on AMC+ or AMC. In the Dead City teaser, Maggie and Negan enter a post-apocalyptic Manhattan that has long since been cut off from the rest of the world.
The teaser includes scenes of the two collaborating as well as scenes showing the constantly changing walkers. It even includes a clip of them passing graffiti that reads “Dawn Lincoln Center Come to Kill With Us,” as they walk by. Additionally, the official release date of the series has not yet been confirmed as December 1, 2022. The Walking Dead: Dead City Plot
The official synopsis describes the show as an adventure for Negan and Maggie. According to AMC, “Dead City envisions the popular Maggie and Negan characters traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror.”
“Eli has created a chaotic, beautiful, grimy madhouse of the dead for Negan, Maggie, and fans of the show eager to discover an unseen and insane world of the TWD Universe,” the franchise architect Scott Gimple said in a recent statement. “Lauren and Jeffrey have always been fantastic collaborators and now, we bring that collaboration to the next level with a series that will take these characters to their limits with the world – and each other. All of us are thrilled to take you on an all-new, all-different TWD epic for the ages.”
In addition to this, Lauren Cohan said in a statement, “I’m thrilled to partner with Dan McDermott and the team at AMC on the next chapter in The Walking Dead Universe. Maggie is very close to my heart and I’m excited to continue her journey against the iconic backdrop of New York City, alongside my friend and collaborator, Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The Walking Dead: Dead City Cast and Crew
Eli Jorné serves as the showrunner of the show. The main cast members of the series are as follows Lauren Cohan as Maggie Rhee (née Greene): The widow of Glenn Rhee, who was killed by Negan, and former leader of Hilltop who puts her differences aside with Negan following the Whisperer War, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan Smith: The former leader of the Saviors who became a prisoner at Alexandria and was later reformed after he killed Alpha during the Whisperer War.
Along with Gaius Charles as Perlie Armstrong: A devoted family man, Željko Ivanek as The Croat, Jonathan Higginbotham as Tommaso, Mahina Napoleon as Ginny, Trey Santiago-Hudson as Jan, Charlie Solis as “The Bartender.” The other cast embers which are in the series are as follows Michael Anthony, Alex Borlo, David Chen, Randy Gonzalez, Alex Huynh, Aixa Kendrick, Mahina Napoleon, Karina Ortiz, Caleb Reese Paul, Eleanor Reissa, and John Wu have been cast in undisclosed roles.
The Walking Dead: Dead City Episodes and Streaming Options
The upcoming series will have at least a total of 6 episodes which will drop on a weekly basis. On the other hand, the episode titles and synopsis of the series are not released by the network as of December 1, 2022.
