White Lotus Season 3: Will the new season premiere in January 2023 or not?
Regrettably, the fans will need to be patient for a little bit longer because new episodes won’t be available on HBO in January 2023. However, it is undeniable that preparations for the new season are well underway, so you might not have to wait as long as you think!
The exact launch date has yet to be determined, as the series was recently renewed by HBO for another season. However, it has been speculated that the forthcoming season would most likely have a release window suggested to be around mid-to-late 2023. On the other hand, you can likely expect it to follow a similar timeline, possibly dropping Sunday nights. Moreover, it is expected to have the same time slot of 9 p.m. (ET/PT) on HBO and be available for streaming concurrently on HBO Max.
In the meantime, fans can expect the series to go into production after the release of the final episode of the second season on December 11, 2022. The White Lotus Season 3: What to expect in the upcoming season?
Francesca Orsi, EVP, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films added, “Reflecting on The White Lotus’ humble, run-and-gun origin as a contained pandemic production, it’s impossible not to be awestruck by how Mike orchestrated one of the buzziest and most critically acclaimed shows. And yet, he’s only continued to reach new heights in season 2, which is the ultimate testament to Mike’s raw, unparalleled vision. His courage to explore the uncharted waters of the human psyche, paired with his signature irreverent humor and buoyant directing style, have us all dreaming of more vacation days at the resort we’ve come to adore. We couldn’t be more thrilled to get the chance to collaborate on a third season together.”
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the director also hinted at a potential season 3 plot, saying that in his original season 2 pitch, political and business tycoons were housed in the hotel, quoting, “Originally, it was more of like a Bilderberg conference, more about getting into some of the bigger power dynamics there,” White said, referencing the annual forum attended by American and European governmental leaders and industry experts. “But Sicily was a totally different vibe than the idea I pitched. That didn’t seem right.”
Additionally, Mike White hinted at a potential storyline for Season 3 stating, he is already thinking about the HBO show’s Season 3, even on the red carpet for Season 2, quoting, “We just turned in our last episode to the network yesterday, so it’s hard to think about the next race,” White told Deadline. Further adding, “But if we did, I think it’d be fun to maybe go to a whole different continent. You know, we did Europe, and maybe Asia, something crazy like that, that would be fun.”

On the other hand, HBO is yet to confirm how many episodes there will be, but Season 3 is expected to include 6 to 7 episodes with an average runtime of 54 to 65 minutes, just like the prior seasons. In addition to this, if we take most of the HBO original series into consideration with a bit of speculation, then the new season is speculated to have the same premiere time as other shows on the streaming service, which is 9 p.m. (ET/PT) on Sunday nights on a weekly basis.
The series is available on steam on HBO in the United States and is available to stream in 4K resolution on HBO Max as it is an exclusive series developed for the digital streaming platform. Moreover, the membership of the platform costs $10 per month for the ad-supported plan and $15 per month for the ad-free option. The viewers can choose the membership plan according to their preference and stream the vast catalog that HBO Max has to offer its users with tv-series and movies ranging across different genres.
White Lotus Season 3: Who will return in the new season?
The White Lotus is created, written, and directed by Mike White; executive produced by Mike White, David Bernad, and Nick Hall; co-executive produced by Mark Kamine. Although we won’t be surprised if Jennifer Coolidge reprises her role as Tanya McQuoid-Hunt. “Jennifer is my friend and everybody loved her in the first season, and I was like, ‘I can’t go to Italy without Jennifer.’ And maybe that’s still the case. Like, maybe you can’t go to Japan without Jennifer, either. There are so many fun actors we’ve worked with so far, so it’s just kind of like who’s available.”
Additionally, some of the new actors joining the ensemble in Season 2 include Aubrey Plaza, Will Sharpe, Sabrina Impacciatore, Theo James, Meghann Fahy, F. Murray Abraham, Adam DiMarco, Tom Hollander, Michael Imperioli, Haley Lu Richardson, Leo Woodall, Beatrice Grannó and Simona Tabasco it is rumored that some of them are expected to reprise their roles in the third season if their character arcs allow them to continue and explore more about them individually on new locations. We just have to wait and see for the final episode to get some kind of confirmation.
