We hate to be the ones breaking the bad news to you all, but The Witcher: Blood Origin is not coming to Netflix in August 2022. Based upon the titular book series by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher: Blood Origin is an upcoming fantasy miniseries that serves as a prequel to the fantabulous The Witcher. Created by Declan de Barra and Lauren Schmidt, this prequel is set in the same world where Henry Cavil’s Geralt of Rivia lives. It will mainly focus upon an “elven world 1200 years before the show” and portray the events that culminated in the “Conjunction of the Spheres”.
If your interest hasn’t turned manifold, then check out its teaser trailer:
The streaming giant hasn’t released an official full-length trailer yet, but this teaser unveiling the prequel was released back in December 2021.
What is The Witcher: Blood Origin about?
The official synopsis of The Witcher: Blood Origin, given by IMDb, reads:
“Set in an elven world 1,200 years before the world of The Witcher, Blood Origins will tell a story lost to time — the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal ‘conjunction of the spheres,’ when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.”
Who is the cast of The Witcher: Blood Origin?

Apart from the mentioned cast, the miniseries was also looking forward to the addition of two female leads, according to Recapped. These two female leads will be reportedly playing the roles of Eile ‘The Lark’ Lithe and Princess Merwyn. The former belongs to a clan of elves whose primary weapon is a knife. Previously, Jodie Turner-Smith was supposedly reprising the role of Eile, but then she exited the series due to some conflict in the schedule. Jodie Turner-Smith was replaced by Sophia Brown for Eile, while Mirren Mack will be reprising the role of Merwyn.
In addition to this, the fantasy series will also feature Laurence O’Fuarain in the role of Fjall Stoneheart, who will be portrayed as “a physically strong, gritty and visceral” character belonging to the elven clan in opposition to Eile’s.
