This artist leaves behind BTS to be the most streamed on YouTube

India’s one of the most renowned playback singers, Alka Yagnik’s fans now seem to have a little more power than the BTS ARMY. It is because the popular singer was the most globally streamed artist on the popular social media platform YouTube last year.

Alka Yagnik was able to garner a whopping 15.3 billion YouTube streams in the year 2022. It made for an average of 42 million streams per day, as stated by the Guinness World Records. So, the Indian singer currently stands in first place in YouTube’s 2022 global rankings. With this, Yagnik has left behind Bad Bunny (Puerto Rico), who received 14.7 billion streams and has been ranked second in the same list.

Guinness World Records also reportedly stated that Yagnik has been the most streamed musician on YouTube for the past three years. She made the said record with 17.7 billion streams in 2021 and 16.6 billion earlier in 2020. Yagnik was also the most-listened-to singer in Pakistan with around 683 million streams.

The BTS members have continued their legacy of winning again as the K-pop group recently bagged the ‘Album of the year’ award at the recently held Golden Disc Awards 2023 last Saturday. For the unversed, the 37 awards ceremony was organized on January 7, 2023, in Bangkok, Thailand. It is where the Bangtan Boys won three different categories including the Album of the year, Best Album, and the TikTok Golden Disc Most Popular Artist award. For the unversed, the popular K-pop group received the ‘Album of the Year’ for the 6th consecutive time in a row.

BTS member J-Hope gave a rather emotional speech on behalf of the entire group and said, “ARMY! I am here to give a speech on behalf of the group. It’s really not easy to speak for the whole group, so I have even more respect for our leader RM. I’ll gratefully and humbly accept this award as something encouraging BTS’s future.”
