What to expect in This Is Us Season 6 Episode 17?
The official synopsis of the episode states, “The Pearsons gather around Rebecca’s bedside.”

The last episode has left many fans wondering if there is a connection between Rebecca’s memory deterioration and the caboose narrative from earlier this season. From the promo, it is presumed that she may not have much of her intellect left at the time of this episode, but what she does have is love. This is the part of her that has stood the test of time, and it lives on in all of her children.
It’s only one of many lessons they can all apply as they head into the series finale and whatever possible future exists after that. This in fact seems very likely to happen as the plot seems to conclude the season’s characters’ arcs with a good ending in order to meet fans’ expectations.
Moreover, many fans for a long time have been discussing and speculating that this is most likely a reference to an earlier episode in which Rebecca was concerned about her memory. Rebecca remembered riding the train with her father when she was a child. She recalls walking the length of the train, but she is troubled by her inability to recall the word “caboose.” Rebecca is so irritated by her inability to recall the name for “caboose” that she rants about it at a family gathering where the Big Three are present. She then informs everyone about the developing plaque in her brain.
She ultimately remembers the word “caboose” by the end of the episode and says it to herself at night when she’s with Miguel. While she is glad that she remembers the word, she is annoyed that it took her so long. Because The Train is the title of This Is Us Season 6 Episode 17, many fans believe Rebecca might die and see her father on the train in the afterlife, which will make this episode even more packed with emotions that the fans have to bear with.
On the other hand, Miguel’s recent death could indicate that he will return in the afterlife too. This is just a rumor at this point in time which will be cleared once the episode airs. Milo Ventimiglia, who plays Jack, was also filming sequences for the season’s finale, so fans may expect to see him again which will be very exciting.

In the past, Rebecca tends to the Big Three’s every need as babies. As they grow older, she adapts to their differences as individuals in order to support them. A week after Miguel dies, Rebecca is often disoriented, looking for him. The Big Three meet to discuss the next steps; Kevin wants Rebecca to stay in the house he built for her, while Randall wants her to live with his family in Philadelphia. Philip explores the dynamics of the Big Three and their spouses. Toby reminds Kate that she is solely empowered to make the decision.

She insists Randall and Kevin engage more closely with Rebecca and then announces she and Philip will find the best place for Rebecca near them in L.A. so that Randall won’t damage his career to care for her. But when Kevin decides to move with Sophie into Rebecca’s house, with Madison and Elijah already eager to relocate nearby, and Nicky and Edie living in the original cabin, all agree to the proposed support system. Years pass, a harmonious time for the family as the Big Three tend to increase dependent on Rebecca’s needs. Kevin calls Randall to inform him that Rebecca is likely near death.
