Ted

Rating: 6.9/10

Genre: Comedy

Cast: Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, Seth MacFarlane, Joel McHale.

Ted is to a teddy bear what Stewie and Brian are to their respective real-life counterparts. He uses vulgar language, is aggressive, consumes a lot of marijuana, and engages in in-store sex with his coworkers at the supermarket. Fundamentally, Ted functions because just being around him makes us uneasy. We’ve been told from the beginning that a teddy bear should be soft and sweet rather than vulgar and aimless, but MacFarlane cleverly undermines that idea. Teddy bears are a mainstay of many of our childhoods and the embodiment of warmth and innocence.
