Tori Spelling is trying to bloom as a single mom!
Following her split from her estranged husband Dean McDermott, The “Beverly Hills, 90210″ alum revealed the struggles she was facing as a single mother of her five children and the unspoken discomfort of taking upon herself the burden of last-minute Christmas shopping for her children. She shared her thoughts on her Instagram stories on Friday.
She wrote, “It’s December 22 and I officially bought my first gift for Christmas,” adding, “5 Christmas lists to tackle. 3 days to do [it.]” Her issues piled on as she revealed that she “missed the Amazon Prime cut-off” for online shopping and has to resort to in-person shopping. She added to this remark, “Now I’ll have to brave the mall alone. Crushing this single mom Christmas 2023 😂.” Spelling shares Liam, 16, Stella, 15, Hattie, 11, Finn, 10, and Beau, 6, with McDermott.
McDermott announced his divorce from Spelling after 17 years of marriage back in June. He wrote a message on his Instagram, in a now-deleted post, “It’s with great sadness and a very very heavy heart that after 18 years together and 5 amazing children.” He also added that he will be co-parenting the children with Spelling.
Via Page Six, we gather the knowledge that last month, McDermott opened up about this public statement on Instagram in a desperate attempt to escape Spelling after their “drunk and angry” fight led to his suicide attempt. The Daily Mail reports him saying that he ingested “six or seven” sleeping pills in hopes of never waking up.
He said at the time, “It was the night that I raged against her and the children and I saw the light, the final flicker of the flame go out in her eyes,” adding, “I posted that because I was at the end of my rope. I didn’t know what to do. I had burned everything down yet again.”
After he posted the forced split story, he took it down, which drove him to drink deeper and take sleeping pills. He continued of his deterioration, “I was literally at my wit’s end. That night, I was drinking and I was into my pills.” McDermott further revealed God wanted him to wake up and he “would’ve ruined so many lives if I had died.”
Although the star is sober and well after coming out of rehab, but hasn’t seen his estranged wife or their kids since shortly after the incident. Due to an anomaly at their rental house at the time, Spelling and the kids had to move out of there. This resulted in the “Scary Movie” actress spending $100 a night at a night motel with her five children before the family moved to an RV park.
Page Six released pictures in October that show the actress searching for properties in the Los Angeles area.
