An MI6 agent’s bright future takes a sharp turn after a reunion with a Russian spy forces him to question his entire life.
Treason is a British thriller series about a newly appointed head of MI6 whose past catches up with him after reuniting with a Russian spy with whom he shares a complicated past, which makes it an exciting mini-series to watch in recent times. As, all the episodes of the first season of Treason are now available to stream on Netflix, with the series concluding its 5-episode story arc a few hours ago.
Since then, many viewers have been wondering whether the show will be renewed or canceled for future seasons. If you’re wondering the same, then you’ve come to the right place. Want to know about any new information for the possible renewal of the series? Look no further, as we’ve compiled a quick summary of everything you need to know about the status of the series. Here’s all we know about Treason Season 2.
Is Treason renewed for Season 2?
The series premiered its final episode along with the prior episodes on December 26, 2022, at approximately 12:00 a.m. (PT) or 3:00 a.m. (ET) on Netflix. The first thought that comes to mind for viewers is that many major TV networks or streaming platforms are attempting to expand the series as a franchise. Moreover, many series are created with fresh themes for the digital streaming platform, with two or more seasons already approved by the network.
With the growing demand from customers who have loved the content provided across genres by many newly established streaming platforms with reasonable subscription options, it is valid for viewers to assume if this series will continue or not. Unfortunately, as for Treason, which was adapted as a limited series for spy territory dramas, the future looks grim. As a result, the series is not expected to be renewed, as the plot of the show is restricted and cannot be expanded into something that does not adhere to the exact idea of the source material.
The series has already covered the major plotlines for the theme, and all five episodes have covered the majority of them by the end, leaving no scope to be expanded further by the contents of the book. Hence, it seems unlikely that the series has much left to offer in terms of more episodes. The finale episode seems like the perfect way to reach a satisfactory conclusion to the storyline, which the viewers have been watching for such a long time.
