Directed by Jeffrey Richman and Darren Star, Netflix’s Uncoupled is centered around the life of a man who is living in NYC wanting to reconnect with life after overcoming a long-term relationship. Spanned across eight episodes, this Netflix comedy made its debut on the streaming giant on July 29, 2022.

If you liked Emily in Paris, Sex and the City, Melrose Place, and Younger, then you’d ineluctably like this one since all of them come from the same source: Darren Star.

At the time of writing, Netflix hasn’t officially renewed the show for a second season. It has been months since season 1 premiered on the streaming giant, and there has been no news regarding Uncoupled Season 2.

A show’s renewal status depends upon a variety of factors including viewership figures, production cost, and more. Since it has been quite a while since the show’s premiere, the chances of us seeing a second season are also plummeting. As time advances, it will be less likely that Netflix will renew the show for the second season.

On the reviews’ front, the show seems to have garnered fairly good traction with Rotten Tomatoes rating it 77% and a 7.0/10 on IMDb.

According to What’s on Netflix:

“Given the lukewarm performance of the show thus far (more on this below), we’re currently 50/50 on the show’s future. It has one of the best chances of any of the current crop of fledgling comedy series to get renewed but given Netflix’s track record in the space, it may not have the numbers it needs to justify a future season.”

What can we expect to happen in Uncoupled season 2?

If the show gets renewed for a second season, here’s what we are expecting the upcoming season to include.

The first season ends with Michael heading home only to find out that Colin reconsidering the split from which stemmed all their relationship problems. This entails the question of whether Michael will give their 17-year-old relationship another chance, which can only be answered in Uncoupled Season 2, if there is, that is to say.

On the parallel tangent, we have Stanley, who has been diagnosed with stage one breast cancer, and Kai’s father is a question mark since Kai chose not to attend the meeting at the last minute.

In conversation with TVLine, Darren Star dropped some key plot hints that can be expected to unfold in Uncoupled Season 2. Star told the outlet that he “anticipates plenty of friction in the writers’ room over how to proceed.”
