Are you looking forward to a Season 4 of Virgin River? Given its popularity and ratings, we’re sure you must. Who doesn’t want to see more of Mel and Jack, after all? And this might leave you wondering when is the new season coming and what mysteries will it unfold.
If you don’t know what we are talking about, here’s a little background. Virgin River is a romantic drama streaming television series produced by Reel World Management, based on the Virgin River novels by Robyn Carr.
The story revolves around Mel Monroe, who starts working as a midwife and nurse practitioner in the remote Northern California town of Virgin River, thinking it will be the perfect place to start fresh and leave her painful memories behind, but she soon realizes that the small-town is not as simple as she expected and she has to learn to survive and heal herself before she can truly call Virgin River her home.
The first season of the show premiered on Netflix on December 6, 2019. In December 2019, the series was renewed for a 10-episode second season which was released on November 27, 2020. In December 2020, the series was renewed for a 10-episode third season, which premiered on July 9, 2021.
Moving forward, the series was renewed for a fourth season as well, and fans are eagerly waiting for any news related to the upcoming seasons.
So, here’s everything you need to know about Virgin River Season 4 and whether it’s coming in April or not.
Is Virgin River Season 4 coming in April?
No. Virgin River Season 4 is certainly not coming on Netflix in April. Of late, both Netflix and the official social media accounts of Virgin River have been tight-lipped about any update regarding Season 4. It’s still unclear whether post-production work has been completed or if it’s nearing the end, so for now, it’s clear Virgin River Season 4 is not releasing in April, at least.
Is there a release date yet for Virgin River Season 4?
Unfortunately, there’s no exact release date for Virgin River Season 4 yet. The filming of Season 4 was due to start at the end of July 2021. In February 2022, according to an Instagram story, Alexandra Breckenridge posted that another key part of the production process also has just finished.
”I just went and finished my last ADR, for Virgin River for those of you who don’t know what ADR is, I think it stands for audio digital recording,”.
In late November 2021, Martin Henderson – who plays Jack – gave fans an update, confirming that Season 4 was in post-production by posting a photo of himself on Instagram in which he was in a voiceover recording booth.
“Doing a little post-production work on #virginriver season 4. Making sure it’s all smooth and satisfying for the best fans EVER! Y’all have a lovely weekend wherever you find yourselves,” he wrote.

This proves that the filming has already finished, and Virgin River Season 4 can arrive soon on Netflix. If you are asking for a prediction, we are expecting the new season to arrive in late summer 2022. If the production for the same is completed, there shouldn’t be any more delays.
The cast also posted some behind-the-scenes photos featuring Jack (Martin Henderson), Doc (Tim Matheson), Preacher (Colin Lawrence), Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth), and Ricky (Grayson Maxwell Gurnsey) in November, hinting that a new season isn’t that far away.

What will Virgin River Season 4 be about?
There are many questions that need to be answered in Virgin River Season 4. Mel is pregnant, but the father of the baby may not be Jack. Mark, who’s her late husband, could be the father. Chatting to TV Line, showrunner Sue Tenney said: “You’ll find out by the end of the fourth season.”
The question arises if the baby is Mark’s, how would that affect the couple’s relationship? “It would be immensely difficult,” Breckenridge told E!. “That would be extremely challenging, especially for Jack. If he’s going to stick around, if he’s devoted to Mel, that’s going to be hard, to have a baby that’s her dead husband’s baby. That’s just, like, asking a lot.”
In the finale of last season, Hope is still in hospital, and we are waiting for the upcoming season to find out what lies ahead for her. Fans are eagerly waiting for Doc and Hope’s vow renewal ceremony in Virgin River Season 4; however, we’re a little worried about the return of Doc. In a behind-the-scenes video posted on Instagram by Alexandra Breckenridge at the end of October, she introduced a new cast member who is playing Doctor Cameron Hayek.
