Is the latest rumor true? Is the fifth season of Virgin River going to be split into two parts? Continue reading to learn more.
Over the years, we have already seen many original Netflix series that have split their season into two parts with comparable episode counts, which has helped viewers understand the story and relate how the events of the previous chapters are being connected to future plotlines. There are a few examples of previous series that have done this, which includes You, Money Heist, Lucifer, Stranger Things, and Manifest, among other television series on different streaming services.
We know you might be wondering the same since the fifth season of Virgin River has been confirmed to follow in season 4’s footsteps and boast 12 episodes with an average runtime of 40 to 48 minutes per episode rather than the 10 episodes of seasons one through three. This automatically makes one wonder if the season will be split into two parts with six episodes each. If you’re thinking the same thing, we can assure you that no such details have been revealed by the network or the show’s creators as of February 2023.
On the other hand, there is still a lot of time for such details to be revealed among fans because the network hasn’t confirmed the exact release date of the season, which has been speculated by the fans to premiere sometime in the summer of 2023, and the most likely timeframe will be sometime around July 2023, which was recently hinted by Martin Henderson, with the same premiere time as other shows on the streaming service, which is 12:00 a.m. (PT) or 3:00 a.m. In order to receive updates on when the latest episodes premiere on Netflix, interested viewers can also enable notifications.
Virgin River Season 5: What should the fans look forward to?
Not much has been revealed about the new season, but speaking to Glamour Magazine, Smith teased the upcoming fifth season, quoting, “We get into things that will be new and exciting, but still very much feel like the same show, but are definitely taking a more exciting approach to some of the stories. A little bit louder, but not to the detriment of the comfort of the show. I want it to feel like season five will be next-level.”
Alexandra Breckenridge also teased a heavier season, saying, “I think this season has started out well, and we’re getting into a few episodes soon that are pretty heavy. They’re really intense and I think that they’re some of the best episodes we’ve ever done. I never say that either! I think that there’s a high sense of drama that starts to come up this season that it’s going to leave people on the edge of their seats. At least, I hope. I’m excited to get into that.”
On the bright side, IMDb has updated and released the titles of the three episodes, which give an insight into the plot, as follows:
- Season 5 Episode 1: TBA – 2023
- Season 5 Episode 2: Songbird – 2023
- Season 5 Episode 3: Calculated Risk – 2023
- Season 5 Episode 4: Never Gonna Be the Same – 2023
