Ever since season 2 of Warrior Nun was released on Netflix in early November 2022, only one burning question has been occupying the minds of the viewers: Will Warrior Nun be renewed for a third season? For those unversed, Warrior Nun debuted on the streaming giant in July 2020 and comes from Simon Barry. It was followed by a quick renewal for season 2 on November 10, 2022.
Featuring Alba Baptista, Toya Turner and Thekla Reuten, the official synopsis of Warrior Nun reads:
“After waking up in a morgue, an orphaned teen discovers she now possesses superpowers as the chosen Halo Bearer for a secret sect of demon-hunting nuns.”
Has Netflix officially renewed Warrior Nun for Season 3?
Currently, the show has not been renewed for a season 3, although Simon Barry, its showrunner is looking forward to the show having more seasons. The show’s delay in renewal can be indebted to the surprising unfortunate downfall, since according to What’s on Netflix, “the early performance of the show isn’t looking good and demand externally is also faltering.”
However, as mentioned previously also, the show’s renewal is dependent upon multiple factors including viewership figures and production costs. In a conversation with Screen Rant, Simon Barry hinted at his plans for Warrior Nun.
He said: “Of course, when you end a season as a writer, you always want to make sure that you’ve not written yourself into a corner. And yes, we did have a notion about what season 3 could be and how that would look. But of course, it’s up to the fans. If they show up in big numbers. Netflix will make the right decision. And so hopefully, that’s what will happen.”
What can we expect to happen in Warrior Nun season 3?
*Spoiler alert*
The official synopsis of the last episode of Warrior Nun season 2, entitled “Jeremiah 29:13”, reads: “Ava visits the other realm and returns with a new plan to end Adriel’s unholy charade — but it will require superhuman strength and painful sacrifices.”
The season 2 finale unravels the warring conflicts that end on multiple cliffhangers that leave many questions unanswered. With Adriel being defeated, another threat has arisen as to who will take its place in the third season. Accompanied by the question over the Halo and Lilith’s transformation, season 3 is also expected to look into the stability of the newly-built order.
“Third season would be establishing the events leading to the holy war, 4th season. So this could be the last if the show doesn’t gain enough traction,” writes one Redditor.
