One of the most exponentially popular Netflix shows of 2022, Wednesday’s combination of dark comedies has led the series to exceed over 752,000,000 million hours. This explains the renewal of the show.

As per Netflix’s data:

“The series broke the record for the most hours viewed in a week for an English-language TV series on Netflix – not once, but twice – when it debuted in the #1 spot with a record-breaking 341.23M hours viewed, and again in its second week with a staggering 411.29M hours viewed.”

Tim Burton’s directorial debut, Wednesday piqued the excitement of the readers the moment Netflix released the first look of Jenna Ortega in the iconic Gothic costume of Wednesday Addams. Tim Burton is associated with the project as both a producer and a director.

Here’s everything we know so far about Wednesday season 2.

Is Wednesday officially renewed for a second season?

On January 6, 2023, Netflix officially confirmed that the comedy horror would return for a second season. The two showrunners of the series, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, “It’s been incredible to create a show that has connected with people across the world.”

They further added, “Thrilled to continue Wednesday’s tortuous journey into season two. We can’t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky spooky world of Nevermore. Just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.”

This news debunks all the rumors that previously circulated on the internet reporting that MGM Television may be moving the show to Prime Video.

What can we expect to happen in Wednesday season 2?

Since Netflix or the service hasn’t given us any official plotline, we will stick to our previous assumptions.

*Spoiler alert*

“The moment Xavier gifted Wednesday a phone, she received ominous messages from her first stalker. Even though Wednesday had a limited online presence, it seems a little awry as to how did she acquire a stalker the moment after she received a phone from Xavier.

In Season 1 of Wednesday, we saw Tyler, in chains, transported to a maximum security prison, or even a psychiatric ward. But before he could be completely transported to the prison, Tyler donned his Hyde form, letting the audience assume that he killed all the armed guards.

What will happen now with Tyler on the loose?

Season 1 also left on a sad note of Larissa Weems’ demise. As a result, everyone is left wondering who will become the principal of Nevermore Academy. The first choice can be Morticia Addams, Wednesday’s mother, who was formerly a student of Nevermore and a member of the Nightshades. However, if our assumption is right, then Catherine Zeta-Jones will be updated as a series regular.

Wednesday was also seen defeating Jeremiah Crackstone who was resurrected by Laurel. However, knowing that Laurel was the master of Tyler, there is a chance that Tyler could join hands with her, and that could end badly for Nevermore and the outcasts.”

Currently, Tim Burton is reportedly working on the Beetlejuice sequel. However, Burton is not engaged in writing any of the episodes of Wednesday; he had directed half of the first season. So, What’s on Netflix thus contends, “There’s no reason why he can’t return to direct further episodes.”
