Amy Schumer and ex-husband Chris Fischer have accepted that their marriage has run its course after 7 years.
For Schumer, the past few months were nothing short of turbulent, having undergone a life transformation as she shed 50lbs using weight-loss jabs. According to Daily Mail, Schumer’s friend exclusively shared that she is leaving her marriage in the hopes of kick-starting her career again.
Speaking to the news outlet, the source said, “When Trainwreck came out in 2015, she was on fire with her career, and she was offered lots of roles that she ended up saying no to.” The insider further revealed that when the actress, 44, gave birth to her son Gene in May 2019, she sidelined her career and “didn’t go full throttle as she would have liked.”
The source revealed, “Now, 10 years on from the ‘Trainwreck’ high and success that started giving her the career she expected for herself, she’s looking to get that back and see if lightning strikes twice for a major movie career. With those career goals and her being a mother, she didn’t focus much on her marriage to make that succeed.”
“But that is the life she was chasing, and the life she has chosen to take into the new year. She’s realized you can’t have everything, and the thing that suffered the most was her marriage. Now she is trying to figure it all out one day at a time”, she added.
Speaking to the news outlet, the insider claimed that the former couple’s split was “a long time coming” and that “she is equal amounts (of) happy and sad.”
As far as Schumer and Fischer’s co-parenting plans are concerned, the insider revealed, “She is telling the truth about looking forward to co-parenting Gene, but she is focusing on getting her life and career back in order for a very successful 2026.” Additionally, the source, while referring to the stand-up comedian’s recent body transformation, claimed she wants to be involved in more projects.
They said, “She is now obviously in spectacular shape and wants to do more comedy. Be that specials, touring and writing, or being involved in more movies and TV shows – including stuff that you would expect from her.”
On Friday, December 12, Schumer took to Instagram to break the news of her divorce to her followers, posting a picture of herself and Fischer, 45, on the New York City subway. She captioned the post with:
“Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years. We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time. blah blah blah not because I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag s basket and not because he’s a hot Janlmes beard award winning chef who can still pull some hot tail. Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever.”

Schumer and Fischer’s separation, although sudden, was not unprecedented, with the former’s close friend confiding to the Daily Mail that the actress was “100 percent getting divorced”, a few weeks before the official announcement. They alleged that Chris was “mostly out of the house at this point. They’ve listed two homes now, in Brooklyn and New Orleans.”
Elsewhere, another source remarked that Schumer had ceased to bring up her spouse in conversation. The source said, “Amy doesn’t talk about Chris that much anymore; it’s like they are no longer close. He is never around, and she has not taken him on a red carpet for months.”
One of her friends revealed, “He doesn’t even get her jokes, and being funny and making people laugh is important to her.”
“Also, there is that classic cliche: when a woman loses weight, her personality changes. Amy has changed since losing weight, she is much lighter in her spirit, more easy going. I think she wants more out of life.”
