Therefore, if you’re interested in learning more about the plot and anticipated release date, look no further! For the purpose of allaying any of your worries, we have gathered all pertinent information.
Here is everything we know so far about the brand-new crossover event.
NCIS Crossover Event: Why is it airing a week later?
It’s unclear at this time why CBS took this action. After watching the coverage of the National Christmas Tree Lighting, TVLine reported the disappointing news.
That was when fans learned that the date for the NCIS three-way crossover would now be Monday, January 9, 2023. The three-way crossover will still start at 8 p.m. ET/PT. This is an hour earlier than we’re used to getting the crime dramas now. NCIS Season 20 will kick everything off in the hour slot that is usually taken over by comedies. Then we’ll get a new episode of NCIS: Hawaii Season 2 and then a new episode of NCIS: Los Angeles Season 14.
In each of the episodes, various characters from the three shows will interact. We are aware that Yasmine Al-Bustami will appear in the second and third episodes of the show, proving that Lucy is not lost forever as some had feared. Season 14 of NCIS: Los Angeles will still premiere on January 8, 2023. Ideally, there were no references to the events in that episode, and it was written as a stand-alone, just in case the three-way crossover’s logistics weren’t successful.
The official Twitter handle of the show also confirmed the news to the fans by posting a short promo clip from the three series by making the awaited announcement, quoting, “Big news, the #NCISCrossover Event is moving to Monday, January 9! Update your calendars and get ready for 3 action-packed hours of television, starting at 8/7c on @CBS. #NCIS #NCISHawaii #NCISLA” Take a look at the official post below:

NCIS Crossover Event Plot
Amy Reisenbach, executive vice president of current programs at CBS, stated, “We are so excited to finally have the long-awaited, first-ever NCISverse crossover to share with our passionate, loyal viewers.” Further adding, “The popularity, longevity, and continued success of the franchise is a testament to the immense talent of the casts and writing and producing teams who bring these shows to life. They came up with a thrilling story for this epic three-hour event that creatively brings all three NCIS teams together for fans to enjoy in one night and beyond.”
CBS says in its 20 years on TV, the NCIS-verse has amassed over 4.1 trillion minutes viewed across the entire franchise, which includes the old NCIS: New Orleans. According to Deadline, “The crossover will center around a high-stakes case to take down a hitman. Team members from the different NCIS divisions will come together in Washington, D.C., to celebrate a FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center) professor who taught multiple members from each squad. On the eve of the celebration, the professor is found dead of an apparent suicide and his former students immediately suspect foul play.”
