Yellowjackets Season 2: What can the fans expect in the new season?
The official description of the season on Showtime’s website states, “The Yellowjackets barely made it through summer in the woods, but now as winter begins to bite, we’ll see if hunger and desperation turn into full-on psychosis. While there may or may not be a dark and powerful force inhabiting the wilderness, their survival could depend upon what they choose to believe. Meanwhile, twenty-five years later, each survivor must ask themselves – Is the darkness coming for them, or is it coming from them?”
According to recent reports, the series is told in both the present (2021) and past (1996), before the plane crash, and then right after. It charts in parallel how the survivors are still managing their trauma – in plenty of unhealthy ways – in the 25 years since the terrible event, and in the flashbacks, what they had to do to survive in the immediate aftermath of the crash. On the other hand, Steven Krueger, who plays Coach Ben in Yellowjackets, opens up to TV Insider that Season Two is a “whole new ballgame.”
Further adding, “We are going into the wintertime when the season ends with that first snowfall. This season will cover the winter months,” he said, “It’s going to get dire out there with little food and the challenge of staying warm and alive. A good general overall birds’ eye view of the second season is it feels like producers loved we were the crazy show on TV and want to take that and double down. If you thought Season 1 was crazy, just buckle your seatbelts for Season 2. It doesn’t let up.”
Yellowjackets follow a team of high school girl soccer players who become the unlucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness which have the original cast that includes Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, and Lewis, season 2 will feature Elijah Wood as Walter, Lauren Ambrose, and Simone Kessell, along with Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, and Kevin Alves.
