The official synopsis of the season states, “John Dutton puts his hand on the Bible and promises to uphold the Montana constitution against all enemies as he takes over as the state’s Governor. He fires the old staff and hires Beth as his new chief of staff before signing a declaration his son Jamie calls a “declaration of war.” John convincingly takes on his new role, but power has a price and the question arises of what the Duttons are willing to pay.”

The trailer also broke streaming records (14.4 million views and 1.7 million engagements within the first 24 hours of its release on September 29), Paramount announced that the Yellowstone premiere was up 52% in adults 18-34 (2.53 Live+Same Day vs. 1.67) compared with the Season 4 premiere. 

Over 12 million people watched the episode on various Viacom-owned platforms. The trailer depicts that Yellowstone is a drama series that follows the Dutton family, led by patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner). The Duttons control the largest contiguous ranch in the U.S. and must contend with constant attacks by land developers, clashes with an Indian reservation, and conflict with America’s first national park.
