Young Sheldon Season 6: Is it the last season?
While the show may be concluding its current season, this is not the end for Young Sheldon – the show has already been renewed for a seventh season, which is expected to start airing sometime in the fall of 2023 by following the same footsteps of the previous seasons. So, the fans can look forward to more hilarious and touching moments from Sheldon and his family.
In addition to this, executive producer Steve Holland hinted about the potential end of the show in an exclusive interview with TVLine, quoting, “We’ve certainly started to talk about [season 7 being the end]… When you’re in the middle of a season, it’s such a grind that we haven’t had too many in-depth conversations. But now, as we’re getting to the end [of Season 6], we’ve started to talk about it more.”
The fandom has also pointed out that Sheldon will be turning 14 during Season 7, which is a crucial point in the story in relation to The Big Bang Theory. If you recall, at this age, according to the Big Bang timeline, the future Nobel Prize winner transfers from Medford, Texas, to Pasadena, California, to start his graduate studies at CalTech University. Later, we also discover that Sheldon’s father, George, passes away in the same year that his older sister, Georgie, marries for the first time.
The following season may have slight chances to wrap up the series without dragging it out pointlessly.
“There are certain things we know we want to hit next season, and there are certain things where, if it’s the end versus if it’s just [another season], those things might be different. It’s not my decision to make. I don’t think we’ll know for a while, but I don’t think it will affect the first half of [Season 7]; I think it will play out the same either way. But as we get near the end, I think it will play out differently depending on whether this is, or is not the final season.”
“That’s certainly another thing that throws a wrench into it — if [a strike] happens, how long it goes on, and how many episodes this next season will end up being,” he explains. He further added, quote, “Those are questions we can’t even answer; we’d just be speculating. So we certainly have a plan in place of where we’re aiming [to get] next season with some understanding, and some flexibility, that this may or may not be the end.”
As a result, it’s understandable why Holland predicts that one additional season may be required to satisfactorily wrap up the spinoff. Only time will tell what the future holds for this cherished series, but if it can’t get a higher episode count for its upcoming seventh season, we have hoped that it should definitely get renewed for an eighth season to bring the story to a satisfying conclusion with respect to the many character arcs.
In the meantime, we recommend that the readers stream the current season, which will air a new episode, simply titled “Little Green Men and a Fella’s Marriage Proposal,” on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 8/7c on CBS, which will showcase Sheldon’s desire to search for life on other planets and Mandy’s answer to Georgie’s marriage proposal. Also, Missy is caught between two friends. Take a look at the official promo below:
