Talking about Zendaya, she took home the award for the lead actress in a drama series at the Emmy Awards 2022 for her outstanding performance in Euphoria. For the unversed, it marks her second win at the Emmys in the same category after she bagged the award for her Euphoria performance in 2020.

With the latest honor at the 74th Emmys, Zendaya has now become the first Black woman to win the award for outstanding lead actress in a drama series twice. She has also become the youngest two-time Emmy winner in the acting category. Talking about the Spider-Man actress, she received critical acclaim for her stellar performance in Euphoria’s second season as she reprised her role of Rue Bennett. According to the latest reports, here is what Zendaya said after accepting the award, “Thank you to the Academy, thank you to my friends and family, some of which are here tonight. Thank you to Sam (Levinson) for sharing Rue with me. Thank you for believing in me, even in moments where I didn’t believe in myself.”

Zendaya further said that her aim is to heal people via the show. She reportedly continued, “Anyone who has loved a Rue, or feels like a Rue, I want you to know that I’m so grateful for your stories, and I carry them with me, and I carry them with her.”

Zendaya has earlier set an Emmy record with her first-ever win in 2020 as the youngest one to conquer the drama actress award. She beat fellow contenders Laura Linney (Ozark), Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh (Killing Eve), Reese Witherspoon (The Morning Show), and Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjackets) this year to win the award.
