The central government is “not considering any proposal for dual citizenship“, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Tuesday.
During the Lok Sabha session, the MHA said that as per information available with the ministry, some 1,24,99,395 Indian nationals are living in foreign countries.

“Total 1,36,441 people gave up their citizenship in India and took up citizenship of other countries in 2019, 1,25,130 in 2018, 1,27,905 in 2017, 1,44,942 in 2016, and 1,41,656 Indians in 2015,” it said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi got emotional on Tuesday, as the Rajya Sabha bid an emotional farewell to its four outgoing MPs, including senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad.
