A group of activists stormed the BJP Kumbala panchayat committee office. The office near Kumbala town was closed by BJP, Yuva Morcha activists and activists of the party.
After the flower-laying ceremony at BT Vijayan’s memorial hall, the activists locked the party’s panchayat committee office with another lock.
The leaders were angered by local dissatisfaction with the BJP leadership. The protest was over allegations that the party’s local leadership and the CPI (M) had shared permanent committee posts after the local body elections. The family members of the slain BJP Yuva Morcha activists had lodged a complaint with the state committee.
But the leadership’s response was that it could not intervene in the situation ahead of the assembly elections. He promised to intervene after the election but did not keep it. With this, the protest became strong. Three weeks after the election, activists stormed the office after the leadership failed to intervene.
