14 films selected from India
The selection process for the Oscar entry from India took place in Kolkata. A jury of 15 members from the Film Federation of India has shortlisted 14 films for India’s entry in the Oscars. The films include Malayalam film ‘Nayatu’, Tamil film ‘Mandela’, Gujarati film ‘Shallow Show’, Assamese film ‘Bridge’ and Hindi films ‘Lioness’ and ‘Sardar Udham’.The jury will now look at these films and select India’s official entry for the best film.
Oscar award ceremony to be held on March 27, 2022

‘Lioness’ and ‘Sardar Udham’ have been released on OTT
Vidya Balan has been seen as a forest officer in ‘Lion’, directed by Amit Masurkar. The film came out on Amazon Prime Video on June 21 this year. On the other hand, the director of ‘Sardar Udham’ is Shoojit Sircar. In the film, Vicky Kaushal played the character of Sardar Udham Singh, who shot a British officer to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The film was released on October 16 on Amazon Prime Video.
