Chinese tech company Oppo has been working on a foldable smartphone for a long time, but till now, the company’s first foldable device has not been launched. In previous leaks, it was said that this device would be launched in the first half of the year 2021, but it did not happen. Now there are speculations that the company can launch this device next month and it will be available in the market by the end of the year.
Will get high-refresh-rate display
A new report coming to the Chinese market says that Oppo’s new foldable phone may come with a design similar to the Galaxy Z Fold series. The new device could be named Oppo Fold or Oppo X and will come with an 8-inch foldable display with a 120Hz refresh rate and LTPO technology. If leaks are believed, this display will fold inwards, and the company can buy it from Samsung.
Oppo can adopt the same design for its first foldable smartphone, which many companies have already followed. Samsung brought the first Galaxy Fold with this design, and later, Huawei and Xiaomi also launched devices with the same design. Apart from the secondary display on the outside, a large display will be given inside. Oppo may also bring a foldable phone with a clamshell design next year.
Such will be the specifications of Oppo’s foldable phone
In Oppo’s new foldable smartphone, the company can give powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. However, the use of this processor is a bit strange as Qualcomm can launch Snapdragon 898 chipset by the end of this year. It is possible that Oppo has been working on this device for a long time, and its production has already started with the old processor. If so, then the company would not even want to delay the launch.
In previous reports, it was said that the company could give a 50-megapixel main camera sensor in Oppo’s foldable device. Apart from this Sony IMX766 sensor, it will get a 32-megapixel front camera for selfies. It has to be seen whether Oppo gives a multi-camera setup in this smartphone or not. For authentication, Oppo can provide a side-mounted fingerprint scanner on this device. The battery specifications of the new device are yet to be revealed.
Leaks state that Oppo’s new foldable device will not be cheap. However, this is nothing new. The initial foldable phones of all companies like Xiaomi, Huawei and Samsung were launched at a price of more than Rs 1 lakh. It has been revealed that Oppo’s first foldable device will first be launched in its home country of China itself, which means, this phone will come with limited availability.
