‘Jai Bhim’ is in the headlines. And why not? It’s the South’s superstar Suriya’s film. Even though the film was surrounded by controversies, both the audience and critics showered love for it.

Good news for the fans, ‘Jai Bhim’ has made it to IMDb’s top rating list. It has become the first film from South to top IMDb’s ratings.

Streaming on Amazon Prime Video, ‘Jai Bhim’ has become the topmost film of Indian cinema in terms of ratings on IMDb.

The film has been rated openly by IMDb users. ‘Jai Bhim’ has got a 9.6 rating out of 10.

Within 10 days of its release, the film has got first place in the list of IMDb. In this sense, it has become the top film of South, which has got such a high rating on IMDb.

What is ‘Jai Bhim’ about

‘Jai Bhim’ is based on the famous case of Justice Chandra, a judge of Madras High Court, which he fought during his advocacy days. However, in reality, it was a case of persecution of the people of the Kurwa tribe.

The film stars Suriya, Lijomol Jose, K Manikandan, Rajisha Vijayan, Rao Ramesh and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles. TJ Gyanvel is the director and writer of the film.

Suriya is also the producer of this film. The film was released on November 2.

Prakash Raj’s slap scene created controversy

The film had landed in controversy after Prakash Raj slapped a man for speaking Hindi. Many felt that this view was against Hindi speaking people.

To this Prakash Raj said, “After watching the film, the audience did not see the suffering of the tribal people. They did not see the injustice done to them nor did they feel their problem. They only saw the slap in the film. It exposes their agenda.”

Sun shines in the South

Suriya has worked in many super hit films. He is the son of Tamil actor Shivakumar but has made a mark in the industry on his own.

Surya got recognition from the film ‘Nanda’. For this film, he received the Best Actor Award at the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards ceremony.

In 2010, he acted in the film ‘Rakt Charitra’, for which he received the Screen Award for Best Newcomer. Suriya is among one of the most expensive actors of the South.
