Kim Kardashian is getting honest about her past with ex-husband Kanye West. In the season 7 premiere of The Kardashians, the 45-year-old reality star and entrepreneur reflected on how her seven-year marriage and eventual divorce have continued to affect her personally and emotionally.

While taking a break from filming All’s Fair, the new Ryan Murphy legal drama she’s starring in alongside Glenn Close, Sarah Paulson, Naomi Watts, and Niecy Nash-Betts, Kardashian spoke candidly about the toll her relationship with West has taken on her.

“I haven’t had psoriasis since I got divorced, and it just started coming back,” she shared, explaining that her autoimmune condition returned as she began feeling “pretty tested” by her ex-husband. Kardashian, who was married to West from 2014 to 2021, added, “I mean, I have psoriasis again. I felt more stressed, probably just because I had to super, super protect what I had to protect.”

In a later confessional, the mother of four was asked what she thinks when she witnesses West’s public outbursts and unpredictable behavior. “My poor kids,” she responded. “Everyone around can handle it, but like, protect my babies.” Kardashian emphasized that her priority remains shielding her children — North, 12, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6 — from the public scrutiny surrounding their father.

She recalled a recent instance when one of her children came across information about West online. “They’re gonna know things. They’re gonna grow up, they’re gonna see,” she said. “So my job as a mom is to just make sure that at a time when that behavior is happening, is just to make sure that they’re protected.”

Kardashian also reflected on her mindset during her marriage to West and how it shaped her emotional well-being. She admitted that for years she felt a strong sense of obligation to help or defend him, even when it was to her own detriment. “I always felt like I had a bit of Stockholm syndrome,” she confessed. “I always felt really bad and always protected and always wanted to help [him].”

She went on to explain that she often blamed herself or felt responsible for his struggles. “I should’ve stuck it out” or “I could’ve helped,” she recalled thinking. But after their separation, Kardashian said it was the first time she didn’t feel that sense of responsibility. “It is so f—— sad,” she said of where their relationship stands today.

Throughout the episode, Kardashian also addressed what she described as a misconception about her co-parenting situation. “That’s not my reality,” she said, countering claims that she can easily cut off contact with West. “This person…we have 4 kids together. It’s very confusing, because it’ll be all this talk on the internet of like, ‘I’m keeping the kids.’ He’s never once called and asked [to see them].”

She described how online rumors and misinformation often distort what is really happening. “But then I’ll wake up, and it’s on Twitter that I’m keeping the kids,” she continued. “When it’s not true and not rational, I just have to…I can’t engage all the time. It’s a divorce — not a kidnapping.”

Kardashian’s comments reveal how her split from West continues to influence her daily life, not only through renewed stress symptoms but also in her effort to maintain stability for their children. Despite the challenges, her reflections on the show underscored her focus on moving forward, prioritizing her health, and protecting her family from public fallout.

For Kardashian, the emotional aftermath of her marriage is still unfolding, but her message remains consistent: her children come first, and she continues to navigate co-parenting and personal healing in the public eye.
