Meghan Trainor’s jaw-dropping weight loss began with a health scare that motivated her to embark on the journey.
The No singer’s drastic weight loss reportedly began after she was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. According to Medline Plus, gestational diabetes develops during pregnancy when the mother’s body is not able to generate enough insulin to combat pregnancy hormones, which cause insulin resistance, leading to high blood pressure.
While appearing on iHeartRadio’s KIISFM show, Trainor opened up about the inspiration behind her new song, Still Don’t Care.
Speaking to the host Kayla Thomas, the 31-year-old singer said, “I’m getting a lot of hate online just posting who I am, and everyone’s like, ‘Why are you thin now? You were ‘All About That Bass’ girl.’ And I was like 19 when I came out with that, and I’ve been in a fitness journey since I got healthy — and it started when I was pregnant and I had gestational diabetes.”
Owing to the diagnosis, the Like I’m Gonna Lose You singer shared further that she wanted to be her strongest to be able to tour and lift her children “out of their cribs without pulling [my] back.”
“Now I’m strength training three times a week in the gym, and I am so focused on health, and now I’m obsessed with my hormones, my gut. I just want to feel good because this job is hard if you don’t feel good. But I got a lot of hate for being thin, so it confused me and rattled me”, she added.
According to Page Six, in 2021, Trainor welcomed her son Riley and Barry Bruce in 2023 with husband Daryl Sabara.
Post her second childbirth, Meghan Trainor started to rapidly lose weight, flabbergasting her fans in early 2025. Per the news outlet, she admitted that she had embarked on a wellness journey with Mounjaro, a medicine prescribed for type 2 diabetes. Additionally, the “Lips Are Moving” singer underwent a breast augmentation and lift.
Although a lot of people criticized her for using Mounjaro to catalyse her weight-loss journey, she took to Instagram in March to clarify that she used the drug as a supplement to her diet and exercise plan, according to US Weekly.
She captioned the post with, “Feeling so honored to be recognized by @billboard Women in Music as a Hitmaker — what a dream! But it’s a little disheartening that so many of the questions (and comments) were focused on my body instead of my music, my passion, or the decade of hard work that got me here. This is what it’s like to be a woman in the music industry. No, I don’t look like I did 10 years ago. I’ve been on a journey to be the healthiest, strongest version of myself for my kids and for me.”
She further added, “I’ve worked with a dietician, made huge lifestyle changes, started exercising with a trainer, and yes, I used science and support (shoutout to Mounjaro!) to help me after my 2nd pregnancy. And I’m so glad I did because I feel great.”
Ever since the transformation, the singer has unabashedly flaunted her physique in public places, from red carpets to Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday bash.
However, very recently, Trainor answered back to her haters who “attacked” her over her rapid weight loss.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she said, “I’m literally for the first time ever, after having babies, taking care of my health to the highest level, and I’ve never felt better, and I look incredible.
“I feel great and that’s when people attack me,” she added, noting that her critics are “getting louder” and “meaner.”
She further asserted, “I’m taking care of myself. I have to find a way to not be affected by that.”
Clapping back at her haters, she released a song titled “Still Don’t Care”, in which she called out the attackers who had initially labelled her as “too thick” and now have called her “too thin.”
The lyrics are read as, “You could say what you want, say I’m so hard to like / You could tear me apart, but I sleep well at night (Woo),” she sings at the beginning of the song.
“Say I’m doin’ too much, and you’re probably right / That’s the same s–t I’ve heard my whole life / Said I was too thick, then I got way too thin / And I try to stand out, but I wanna fit in.”
