Is The Boys Season 5 renewed yet?
Before we begin digging further to find out the news, let’s take a moment to appreciate the crew who made the series possible. All thanks to Eric Kripke for developing the series, and a big thanks to Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson for creating the comic series on which the show is based. Now, let’s get back to the main issue.
Ever since the fourth season news came out, fans have been crawling to know more. Recent inquiries are for the fifth season, and we’ll be delighted to declare that The Boys Season 5 hasn’t been renewed yet. But there are expectations for its renewal! In simple terms, The series is said to be in the Active Development stage. This means that there are some early plans since the fourth season is done with its production and is now in its post-production stage.
What are the possibilities of The Boys Season 5 happening?
There are several possibilities for the fifth season to happen. However the most obvious is the plans of the Creator. Let’s start from the beginning. On February 12, 2023, Eric Kripke surprised us with a tweet. He answered the fans’ inquiries, “Cause you’re asking! We’ve been shooting since late August. I’m here to prep & direct the Season 4 finale. No, not the series finale; there will be more! Most importantly, S4 premieres… At some point in the future in our discernible reality.”

So, it’s clear that Eric has his mind set on releasing another season, too, after the fourth. This one is a solid reason for the show to return. However, this isn’t the first time when creators have been confident about their show, but somehow the show wasn’t able to make it, for eg Magnum P. I Season 6. However, In their case, the creators didn’t comment much, although it was the rumors that gave hope to its fans. Well, since we are focusing on The Boys Season 5 renewal status, we’ll discuss Magnum P. I later.
Since Amazon Studio hasn’t officially announced a release date for the upcoming season, all we know is that the fourth season filming wrapped up on April 12, 2023, and ever since then, we have been on the waitlist. So, to assume The Boys Season 5 renewal status this early would also disappoint us due to the waiting period.
When can we expect The Boys’ Season 4 release?
Now that we are clear with The Boys Season 5 renewal status, we can move ahead on the current issue, that is, the fourth season release date. As much as we loved the news of filming being wrapped up in April 2023, we can’t deny that the ongoing strikes have halted the process. WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have taken a lot from us, but honestly, they are the ones sacrificing real things. It is believed that strikes have halted the post-production process, too.

According to Eric, the release date has been postponed to 2024 due to the ongoing strikes. As valid and authentic as this sounds, we would have loved its release in 2023 (only if it was possible). If we are taking a long leap, The Boys Season 5 is likely to be released in 2025 or later since it takes a lot of time to create a superhero series!
