The latest post-apocalyptic series, which got millions of views, is ready for a second season! But before we begin, should we rewind our memories a bit? As we are aware, Joel met Ellie at the Fireflies quarter. He was supposed to smuggle her but ended up being her protector. Joel and Ellie’s relationship evolved with time as they got ahead in the journey, handling the toughest situations while losing their friends. They start depending on each other. Even when Joel got shot, Ellie did everything she could to save him.
She got herself carved by some psychopath human flesh eater. Even though she killed the leader and got out of the cabin covered in blood, Joel held her close. Maybe it was that moment when we started to see the father-daughter duo, or it was the moment when Joel killed everyone in the hospital just to get Ellie out. Even he knew if Ellies found out that he was the one because she failed to create the cure, we don’t think she’ll ever forgive him. However, for that, we gotta know about The Last of Us Season 2!

Can we expect any latest update for The Last of Us Season 2 in July?
Before we jump right on it, let’s take a moment to thank Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann for bringing life to the video game, while we should also appreciate Naughty Dog for developing the game. Now let’s dig in to find what we got in July 2023! At the time of writing this article, the only update we have received in July is the challenges the cast is facing for Abby’s character. The Last of Us Season 2 revolves around Ellie’s quest for revenge following Joel’s murder and the game gives just as much of a spotlight to Joel’s killer, Abby, forcing the player to empathize with her side of the story.
Since the casting for Joel, Ellie, and other characters has been perfect, the HBO casting team has taken the matter to heart to find the perfect Abby & Jesse. If you all are interested in knowing how many actresses have been shortlisted, then we would say Florence Pugh, Chloe Grace & others. These two names have come up for the previous action roles they got to play. Since Abby’s character must be the toughest & physically strong, we gotta find the best. For Jesse, no names have been got out, but we still have hopes for Ellie’s next love interest!
When can we expect The Last of Us Season 2 to air?
Since HBO is known for taking longer than necessary to release the installments, we could expect the second installment to arrive in late 2024. One more piece of news is, the Last of Us season two has been put on hold indefinitely amid the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike after actors had previously been asked to read scenes taken directly from the game The Last of Us season 2 (via Variety).
So all we know is the second season isn’t going to arrive anytime soon. Even Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie, admitted that it would probably take a couple of years to complete season two, “I think we’ll probably shoot at the end of this year, beginning of next,” they revealed. “So it’ll probably be the end of 2024, early 2025.” All we know is we aren’t gonna have another season before 2024.

It’s not their fault, the first season took more than ten months to film, and with the post-production scene, things just get messy. To deliver the best, they need time to create the best & we would be happy to wait rather than get our expectations killed. That’s all we got for you all.
