The American well know Police Procedural Action television series, The Rookie, has been our loyal partner since 2018. The very first day is when John Nolan, a middle-aged man, pursues his dream of becoming a police officer after a life-changing experience. He joins LAPD as a Rookie cop resulting in a constant struggle to fit in with the younger, more experienced officers. Thanks to Alexi Hawley for gifting us with such a mind-blowing series.
Little do we know, the series is based on a real-life officer, William Norcross. Coming back to the present, we are aware of how well the fifth season is performing, giving us twists in each episode. And we crave more, that is why we want to know everything about the next instalment i.e, The Rookie Season 6!
Is The Rookie Season 6 renewed?
The answer to this question is yet to be determined. ABC hasn’t said anything related to the renewal or cancellation of The Rookie Season 6. We have to stay positive! We know The Rookie is currently airing the fifth season while our desires are set for the next season.
The Rookie is one of the top five scripted series on ABC, with enough viewership. The series also does well in delayed viewing. The Rookie has also been sold into syndication in 95% of the U.S. markets, making the series more lucrative than ever for Disney.
With an average of 0.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic, the fifth season of The Rookie have around 3.82 million viewers. With given audience support, The Rookie Season 6 is showing positive signs of getting renewed. There can be other economic factors in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series is renewed, & the lower-rated ones are cancelled. In the end, if odds are in our favour, it’s just a matter of time before we get the renewal announcement.
Expected release date of The Rookie Season 6:
The Rookie first gave its appearance on October 16, 2018, with its first episode. Tho’ if we are getting deep, the series got announced on October 26, 2017. Since then, the show has aired around 95 episodes & is still set to air more. In the past five seasons, we have seen massive growth in our main character, John, while we have also fallen for the other cast members. From what we can guess if The Rookie Season 6 gets renewed. it might air in 2023 end or early 2024.
The man whose story inspired the show was later revealed to be Bill Norcross, a college friend of executive producer Jon Steinberg, who based the show on his story. From what we know Bill is still serving in the LAPD while also being an executive producer of the show.
How many episodes are left in The Rookie season 5?
Since its important to know about the current season to make estimations for The Rookie Season 6. We know the fifth season finale will air on May 2, 2023. The total number of episodes in the fifth season is 22 & we know only 19 episodes have aired yet. So the remaining episodes with their release dates are :
- Episode 20, “S.T.R” – releasing on April 18, 2023
- Episode 21, “Going Under” – releasing on April 25, 2023
- Episode 22, “Under Siege” – releasing on May 2, 2023.
Season 5 has the highest number of episodes & we believe the episode count in the sixth season will be at least twenty. Although, we can’t make any estimations for The Rookie Season 6 plot.
