After getting rejected by several production houses with more than 500 pages of script in hand, he was able to secure a deal with HBO in 2012. After that, you all know the hard work did pay off. When can we expect True Detective Season 4 to arrive?
Before we start digging further to find out our answers, Let’s take a moment to appreciate the crew who made the series possible. All thanks to Nic Pizzolatto for creating such a fabulous show. Thanks to Scott Lasser, David Milch, and Graham Gordy for writing the mysterious scripts through the seasons. We shouldn’t forget to appreciate HBO for being a trustworthy network from the beginning. Also, thanks to the talented cast who have made their characters stand out. Now that we are done with all the appreciation let’s head back to the main topic, which is True Detective Season 4.
It’s not worth giving away our prediction when you folks aren’t well-versed with the history. As you all are aware, the first season came out on January 12, 2014, and after successfully running its eighth season, it aired its finale on March 9, 2014. However, Nic was able to secure the deal in May 2010. Later, the second season came out in June 2015, and after an unnecessary break, it aired its third season in January 2019. So we get it now: why folks have been desperate for True Detective Season 4? So when can we expect its arrival?
In June 2022, HBO greenlit the series, while the production for True Detective Season 4 began in March 2022. Another good news is that the season is already filmed in Iceland, and several new cast members have joined. The filming for the fourth season was eventually wrapped up in April 2023. So where is it, then? For most of this calendar year, HBO has promoted True Detective season 4 as coming out at some point this calendar year. However, it looks like that plan has changed, alongside many other things, over the past several weeks.
HBO has released a new announcement, and you won’t like it. HBO has officially declared that True Detective Season 4 will be released later this year. Yes, folks. A full-fledged prepared series has been postponed for a while, and you have lots of questions regarding Why. So keep reading!
Why True Detective Season 4 have been delayed?
I don’t think this is rocket science since everyone is fully aware of why the series has been postponed. However, we’ll still elaborate. The reason why True Detective Season 4 is pushed to late 2023 is due to the ongoing strikes. The Hollywood entertainment industry is suffering from the WGA( Writers Guild of America) and SAG-AFTRA strikes. In May 2023, the Writers’ strike began, and it got wider when actors joined them in July 2023.
Both strikes have taken the industry by storm, causing several production houses immense losses with a temporary halt in work. However, we do understand the reasoning behind these strikes. Recently, a writers’ strike has announced a major demand that is still unanswered. Due to all of this, several series have gotten canceled while others have been delayed. So we can conclude that True Detective Season 4 is one of the lucky ones that weren’t canceled.
Also, remember that several shows have been pushed back due to the strike. They have moved The Gilded Age to Sundays and are premiering it in October as one way to compensate for the change. So, we can’t anticipate when True Detective Season 4 will arrive. Even when filming is done, they still need the cast to promote the show. All we expect is that it’ll arrive by the end of 2024.
