After missing out on one of Travis Kelce’s NFL playoffs last Sunday, where the Kansas City Chiefs won against the Atlanta Falcons, Taylor Swift is expected to be back in attendance this Sunday during the game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Swift’s absence during the Kansas City Chiefs’ third game during this NFL season did not go unnoticed. Usually, the pop icon’s attendance is widely broadcasted, with her getting featured on the big game screen more frequently than other players. The billionaire hitmaker is usually photographed by paparazzi arriving at the venue exactly one hour after the kickoffs commence. However, during the September 22 match, she was nowhere to be found, per Fox News.
Her absence during the game was justified since she was photographed with her close friend and supermodel Gigi Hadid on Saturday in New York City at The Corner Store, per Page Six. Since the game was on Sunday, Swift may have opted to sit this one out. However, Us Weekly reports have suggested that we will see more of Swift in the upcoming Chiefs games, amidst her Eras World Tour break. The 14-times Grammy winner will resume the final leg of her musical tour on October 18 and end on December 8.
The ‘Karma’ singer is expected to arrive for the playoffs on Sunday, as suggested by Cosmopolitan. Los Angeles is a destination Swift always frequents and has several friends there, so attending her beau’s game to support him seems feasible.
Kelce, 34, has been making headlines recently for his lackluster performance at the beginning of this NFL Season. Even though his team has secured a winning streak over the past three playoffs, the tight end’s contribution to this accolade has been disturbingly minute. His performance had former ESPN sports analyst Todd McShay question his athleticism.
McShay noted on ‘The Ryen Russillo Podcast,’ “Every show I watch, every pregame show, halftime show, postgame show, weekday show, every broadcast I watch for the last few weeks, it’s like, are we not allowed to say that he’s out of shape?”
He further proposed that it was due to his off-season drinking and partying with Swift that led to his degraded performance. The commentator said that Kelce had been “neglecting his football responsibilities” as a professional. He further noted, “Are we not allowed to say that he’s out of shape?” before adding, “That he’s been partying all offseason? That he’s been jet-setting around with the most famous person probably in the entire world?”
While Chiefs fans were aghast with contempt towards Kelce, and blamed the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker’s influence on him, ‘The View’ hosts defended their relationship. Additionally, Kelce’s mom Donna also addressed her opinion over her younger son getting bashed by the media. ‘The View’ host Whoopi Goldberg asked the naysayers to “shut up” and “stop putting this on her. Your team is fine, your team is doing well.” They noted that Swift is not a “Magic 8 ball or a monkey foot” during Kelce’s games influencing his performance. They said that while Swift is powerful in her own right, she can’t “magically affect his game.”

Donna Kelce defended her son’s slow start to the NFL season in her interview with People Magazine, saying that she is taking the negative comments about her younger son to heart. She justified his current performance blaming the “pressure that people are under, whether they’re athletes or professionals that are in front of the camera. And it’s just very difficult, there’s a lot of things going on behind the scenes.”
She further noted some of the on-field antics that contribute to a bad athletic day, saying, “You don’t realize how many times people are trying to keep you from catching the ball, or trying to trip you up or hit you… so it’s kinda hard when you’ve got people that are in your face 24/7.”
Kelce scored 8 catches from 69 yards so far and has not nailed a single touchdown yet. Compared to this, during his performance last year at this time, he had 17 receptions for 155 yards and two touchdowns.
